how difficult is it for legacies to get a bid to an old row house

It is actually kinda hard, especially if you are in-state. So many in-state legacies are in recruitment for old row houses that they have to make some tough cuts after a couple of rounds. But if you get past some point (depends on the house) you are going to get a bid per the nationals' policy -- whatever it may be.

That said, there are always a lot of bids to legacies that, without the legacy, would not have stood a chance. This is in every house.

So it all just depends on you, what sort of connections you have, how close of a legacy is it (a grandmother at Ole' Miss is not going to help you as much as a mother who was on exec in the Alabama chapter)

For the old row sorority houses especially, theres about 200 legacies that come through rush each year- thats more than enough to fill 1 pledge class, so legacies will be cut and their whole pledge class obviously won't be legacies so a lot will be cut/ choose a dif house

What I have always wondered is which houses make the most legacy cuts as a percentage. Like which house that can fill with legacies chooses to release the most legacies and expand beyond the base? I would guess Chi O, Phi Mu, and AGD release more than like KD, Kappa and Tridelt. Does anybody have an opinion or actual knowledge?

Wow. I had no idea so many of the sororities had that many legacy applicants! So is this why so many of the OOS pnms end up at the new row houses? So is Phi Mu the one on old row that is more open to non-legacies, is that what the @Disagree is saying?

Every sorority will take some legacies, but being a legacy does NOT guarantee you a spot

Often legacies just don't fit what the chapter is looking for. Just because your relative is an ABC from the south doesn't mean you should be one too. Many time there are girls the chapters want way more -- so the legacy is dropped. Hopefully early, so she can focus on other sororities.

Do sisters of actives automatically get in because that could be uncomfortable

They do if they want but they often want to be different and do their own thing. Happens all the time.
