Dues includes a lot of meals also. The gorgeous houses have big operating expenses. National fees. Many Juniors and Seniors drop out or study abroad so expenses are really spread between less people than appear.

Men's frats have been around longer. Men have traditionally made more money and have been able over many many years to give more money to their frats.

Read old Erma Bombeck books, she states women tend to think too small when raising funds for worthy causes like a sorority philanthropy. Women from sorority alum groups hold bake sales and lollipop sales and events that cost a lot to put on but end up with little money leftover. Frat men just meet one-on one for lunch and one will end up writing a big check for the other's cause.

So when frat men give money to their old frat chapter they tend to give big, and women giving money to their old sorority chapter well how often does that ever happen?

from the boys I've talked to.. their dues are more. I've talked to maybe 6 different boys at different fraternities about dues and they all end up being more than sorority. bc they have less members plus those parties are costly

From what I've seen, fraternity costs are higher than sorority costs. Those parties, bands, and beer barrels aren't free.
Their liability insurance is also WAY higher.
