how it really is...fraternities and sororities

I've been here for three years and as a member of what i have ranked as a middle tier fraternity i thought something at least remotely true should be put on this website. I'm not trying to say my rankings are 100% accurate, take them however you will but i tried to be unbiased. I just used everything i have seen, read, heard about, people i've met and people i've talked to, and just the overall impression i've gotten from every house. Coming from someone who is not Old Row, you'll still see a strong old row bias towards the top, this is because they are good houses and deserve that ranking. Every house has its good and bad, this is just an average, hopefully this can help someone trying to decide. Anyways, each tier is in random order, take them however you want, thanks.

Just because some posters say that SAE is spiraling downhill doesn't mean they are. Looks to me like they have it going on. Last rush I think every other rushee wanted to be an SAE. Just because some people strongly dislike KA doesn't mean they are going downhill. They're not. Met any? OX has done a good job building a good fraternity even with a not so great physical house. Good for them. SX has come on well the last few years. Pike not so much. EN not so much. DKE #1. Phi Gam is coming back into the mix.

SAE is not elite anymore no matter how often you say different. If they are not going downhill it's because they already did. I vote them high ONLY out of respect for UA tradition. There are 8-9 houses that are better in every respect: DKE, OX, KA, EX, DX, Phi Gam, Pi Kapp, Beta, and maybe LXA
KA has a place at the table, but is probably the most hated house.
That EX is coming on and OX is strong is not news to anyone. Neither is that Pike bottomed out and EN beat them to it 2 years ago.
Biggest joke is Phi Delt (and ATO) ahead of ANYONE except maybe DTD for a year to spank them for their rumored fk ups last month.

I vote SAE & EN up because they stand for the system --- they are not in good shape. Same reason I support ZBT + DTD (medioc), Phi Delt (terrible), and KE (below terrible).
If you want to know who's coming up fast:
From medium to good - Beta, Pi Kapp
From medium to real good - DX
From good to real good - EX
Hopefully EN, Pike & even SAE can learn from this: a good pledge class is huge, and 2 great (or terrible) ones in a row can make you top 5 -- or kick you out of the Top 10 (unless you are SAE who have had 2 mediums and a bad since I've been here)

Joke's saying that he thinks SAE sucks lately and is behind 6 or 7 new row houses, but that he gives them their respect because of the tradition they represent.
I don't have a problem with ATO -- it's just that they are not of the top 16 houses that make up the UA Fraternity system.
If I were to look any deeper I'd tell you that they self ranked and downranked more than any house on this site for a year.
You cut slack to those unaffiliated pansies and you might as well go get yourself neutered.

Sororities:
Moving down-Phi Mu (past 2 years, ehhh), KD, DDD--Big names at Bama, but KD and DDD are living on Old Row name and that's about it.
Moving up-Zeta, Pi Phi, Alpha Phi, GPB, DG--Zeta and Pi Phi are securing themselves as best of directly under traditional top houses. Alpha Phi and DG are moving up because they are new still and didn't have a rep to fight. But both are impressive for their age. GPB had the worst rep but has improved the past 2 years and hopefully will continue to.

I'd also add AOPi to the "moving up" category -- they're up there with Pi Phi and ZTA.

Any ranking that does not have Lambda Chi in the top tier is either in an alternate reality or living in denial.
