off campus fraternity
by: HankI'm looking to join an off campus fraternity in the fall. What are some of the cooler better off campus fraternity's to join?

um none. im not trying to like deter you from doing what you want but honestly there are no "cool" or "better" off campus frats to join. like honestly as a sorority girl, ive only ever been to one off campus frat party and it was ADPhi and it was because my friends and i literally had nothing else to do. it was cramped and almost all of the people, both guys and girls, were really weird and my friends and i left after like ten minutes.
if you want a fun time in college and if you want girls to actually give you the time of day join an on campus frat. even the worst jefferson house is way, way better than an off campus frat.

No she's right, if you want to be relevant, definitely go on campus. It's not even just that girls won't talk to you. Off campus ones aren't as involved and don't get as many opportunities. You won't get to mingle with the sororities like on campus frats, like swaps etc. I literally couldn't even name u an off campus frat tbh. They still participate in Greek events like homecoming and Greek week, but they typically won't go because the sorority their paired with gets paired with 2 other fraternities as well, with the main one being an on campus one and the other typically a Jefferson. At least for especially freshman year, it'll matter because I'd say that's when the school feels the most Greek dominated because freshman are still making friends and will tend to stay within their sororities and then will have the fraternity their pc hangs out with the most.

@lol above is right. good post. if you are going to go greek do something on campus. if you can't afford it or whatever, so other on-campus activities.

I have to disagree with this. There is actually one off campus fraternity that has done the most out f all and has one of the biggest involvements. I have hung out with Sig Taus Plenty of times and their guys are so involved within IFC and SGA. They had one of their own who was the previous VPSA in SGA and multiple guys with directorships. Also i think this past election they had 2 guys win a senate spot. They're over 100 members and getting sig ep when they move out. They hang out with girls from a lot of big sororities. I just went to their casino night and it was literally the most fun I've had in a long time! you should definitely check them out

Idc how hyped up Greek life is here. Doesn't matter if your fraternity is invited to do stuff or not with other fraternities or sororities. If you're Greek here, we should all get along cause it's all the same. House or no house, be proud of the house you're in even if you don't have one. College is hard and who honestly needs someone putting you down about what house you decided to rush. Everyone starts from somewhere and not every house can be on campus here. Every house will have a place here one day, stay classy, and stay humble. Off campus isn't all that bad anyways.

tell your parents you will pay them back.. borrow money.. i don't care what you have to do but trust me when i say this from the bottom of my heart. if you're gonna come to alabama- boy or girl. GO GREEK ON CAMPUS. its an amazing experience here but also, you can really feel like an outsider if you don't. theres a big division in this schools. theres the Greeks and the GDI's. off campus frats are i guess in the middle?but with all the action and boys in the on campus houses, most sorority girls/ girls aren't gonna go to off campus frats. do it you won't regret it.

Well you sound very stuck up don't you, ".."? Every fraternity starts from somewhere and some of us don't want to pay 4-7k for a fraternity just for girls to want to talk to us. Every girl is different, some don't care about the house you're in, and of course others do. It's really all about the kind of person you are and if you're cool or not. Of course, off campus houses will have weird guys but so do on campus houses the only reason people automatically assume off campus is weird is because they have less guys. "Off campus guys couldnt get on campus bids" is false. I got bids from University and Jefferson houses but chose off campus because of pricing and I preferred it. Girls shouldn't judge guys on the fraternities they're in cause that is shallow, and same goes for guys with girls. But Hank, Alpha Sigma Phi, and ADPhi might be considered the two off campus houses that are most likely to be on campus very soon. Look into those two but there's also Phi Kappa Tau, Sigma Alpha Mu, and Sig Tau but Sig Tau will be at SigEp's old house in the fall.
