week to week schedule?
by: PnmI hear a lot about how time consuming southern sororities/ SEC sorities are (especially Bama) so I f someone could give me the run down of what first semester as a new member would be like that would help a lot. I know every soroitiy has different schedules but a typical week to week schedule would be great. Like meetings, philanthropy, study hours, swaps, etc. Just don't want to rush if I don't think I can balance everything!

new member meetings: lasts a few hours once a week, chapter: lasts about an hour once a week, swaps: almost every thursday night, sorority date parties: once about every two weeks, fraternity date parties: whenever you're invited, study hours: ranges anywhere from like 5-15 hours a week depending on your house.
you will also have a set amount of philanthropy events you need to go to by the end of each semester. also homecoming takes a huge time commitment because the sororities expect you to be at the house basically 24/7 for that week.
honestly greek life is a big time commitment. if you're really focused on academics then it may be even trickier to balance everything. but don't get me wrong, lots of Greeks balance a full calendar of greek life commitments while also maintaining 4.0s. if you're really worried i's say wait a semester or a year and see how you're managing academics on your own and then reconsider spring rush or fall rush the following year.
