rushing again in the fall
by: pnmhey y'all! I went through formal rush this past fall as a freshman and was dropped after philanthropy round because of GPA issues. I got a 1.5 GPA first semester because of a screw up but I changed majors and I'm on track to get at least a 3.0 this semester. I really want to re rush in the fall, but I don't know if in setting myself up for failure again. Will any houses consider giving me a bid? Thanks!!

Why should she go to junior college because she had one rough quarter? A lot of people experience poor grades their first year, as long as they improve (esp with the 3.0 like she said), I don't see why they would have to go through the trouble of junior college.
I don't think op should be focusing on sororities though. They have social obligations,and it can be easy to fall behind

What's the GPA cut off where a pnm will get dropped by every house? 2.5? 2.7? 2.9?

Are sororities more lenient with college GPA's than high school GPA's? Like if you're rushing as a sophomore

I know that Alpha Phi has a chapter GPA of 2.91, if I am able to get my GPA up to that do you think I could be considered by them?

Take a few summer classes at a local college. The credits transfer and do impact your UA GPA. If you take two-three classes, you may get it high enough to attempt rushing! Also, you likely have strong relationships with girls in houses. Talk to them and see if they can help you!

with a 2.5 college GPA you're already under most, if not all, sorority's required GPA... meaning that you already qualify to be put on academic probation and you're not even in the house yet. i'd suggest to skip out on rushing this fall. save the money and put it towards some new textbooks or a tutor or something. i know greek life here is big and it seems like you really want to join but in all honesty you probably won't get a bid. try transferring.

Will any houses consider giving you a bid? No. Even if you made a 4.0 this semester your average will be too low. You will be setting yourself up for failure. The only way you have a chance is if enrollment suddenly dropped significantly and chapters could not make quota.

I was completely dropped :( after ice water teas I was asked back to three houses for philanthropy, and then after the 4th day of rush I received the call saying I was not invited back to any houses
