Future PNM's please notice how high these GPA's are and these are the average. Usually college GPA's will be a few tenths lower than your high school GPA. Houses will only be willing to accept a one or two tenths lower than their average because they KNOW you will struggle your first semester balancing all the activities and your course load. A house that has a 3.5 Active GPA will not take more than a few grade risks because they are hard to absorb and those girls need to be pretty darn special in other areas. So, if you really want ANY Old Row or PiPhi or ADPi and you are walking in with a 3.1 or lower from HS, you might want to consider waiting until your sophomore year to rush.

Dying to know what Alpha Phi's GPA was. Especially that pledge class.

Alpha Phi had a 2.91 and a 2.81 average for their active and new member GPA, respectively.

Panellenic is putting Alpha Phi on a performance improvement plan for repeated low house GPA. Wonder what that consists of?

Is that true? AP on a grade improvement plane from the univ?

THIS is how we should be ranking sororities. On their smarts, not their looks, where they're from or how much money their families have.

Hats off to AXO, XO, AGD and DDD for being top 5 on both lists. Y'all are awesome!

Why would you say something negative about four houses of smart girls that worked really hard. Your jealousy will be your own demise.

Congrats smart girls - y'all are awesome!

In a house that's on the lower end of the grade report, it's pretty frustrating to see Panhellenic praise top houses for academic success when they basically set lower houses up for failure. I wish they would make a minimum GPA for rush because if 300 girls with GPA's below a 3.2 rush and then they tell us we have to have a 95% bid rate, of course lower houses are going to end up with grade risks. They're certainly not going to end up at alpha chi or tri delt or chi o.

Try harder.

I don't think there can be a GPA requirement for recruitment but if every house cut the girls with low GPAs early then the bid rate at the end of the week would still be high, and so would everybody's GPAs

Can your nationals institute a minimum GPA for your house? Then you wouldn't have to take the sketchy grade risks.

By: Nationals
by: No

Nationals can have a minimum GPA requirement but the difference between Kappa and, say, theta or dz or another "lower" house, is that Kappa basically has their choice of PNM's and has the option of taking girls with high grades because they're highly desired, whereas theta and dz may only be able to get a certain number of girls who meet a certain requirement while still making quota, which is the ultimate goal. Nationals will relax a grade requirement if it looks like the chapter isn't going to get enough girls

Just like some sororities have a higher average GPA than others, the same is true with schools. The thing with a national GPA minimum is that it will apply to all schools. Some colleges cater to students who weren't superstars or the head of their class, but are smart enough to get a college degree. If you set your national GPA too high, you could eliminate too many girls at those other schools and your chapter will fail. A 3.2 could be sketchy at one university and just fine somewhere else.

Um Theta actually had the third top highest GPA for the Spring 2016 semester and they made like number 7 this semester and the were only off by like a tenth or something.

Yeah I wasn't calling out theta for a specific reason I was just making a point between a highly desired house vs a less desired house. Your house GPA is great congrats

Yeah, kappa's nationals has a 3.3 minimum that's why kappas pledge class this year has such a high gpa

Kappa's ranked 10th in grades. Looks like that minimum GPA should've been put in place a few years ago. Glad their pledges could break 3.5

Congrats to these houses for their tremendous accomplishments. You should be proud and I would never take anything away from your exciting news. Just know that lower GPA houses had many girls who performed well above house average and there's some girls in the noteable houses who brought GPA average down.

This so true! Thanks for pointing this out!
