Why do girls make coolers for boys they're going to Formal with? Is it just a tradition? Curious what it means

yeah it basically is just a tradition. dates are supposed to paint coolers that the guys can put their beer in for the bus ride to NOLA. it's a tradition you can see in Greek life communities across the nation.
