confused by "getting rushed"

I follow some other PNMs on insta who get like 100+ comments from actives on each post. I think it's totally cool for those PNMs but wouldn't actives be better off spending their time reaching out to other girls rather than writing hundreds of comments on one girl's photo? What is it about these girls that sororities want so bad, and is it better for sororities to get a few of these girls rather than an overall solid pledge class?

idk if it necessarily works. sometimes if actives know of a pnm from their hometown that they didn't necessarily like they try to act like their sorority really wants them but then they'll drop them during rush. it's mean and petty but it happens.
also it definitely gets pnms thinking of their sorority. if a pnm is getting a bunch of love from actives she's going to go tell all her friends and it creates this big appeal and sense of wontedness.
