what is bid day like?
by: eazyyezyThis question might seem ridiculous to some.. So to speak that you open your bid card and it's not the sorority you imagined you'd get, what next? Do you just make up your mind then and there and decide whether you'll go run to that house with other members? Also, when you got your bid card were there other girls around who just seemed like they were faking their excitement if they didn't get the house they wanted? ty

I just want to start by saying a good majority of girls get the house they want and/or aren't surprised when they open their bids. However, if a girl opens her bid and is shocked/disappointed to see it isn't the house she wanted, then she can do one of several things. During the night before bid day during the voting process everyone has to sign waivers saying that if they choose to participate in bid day, they cannot participate in any form of NPC rush for a year and forfeit any type of bid for a year...So if a girl is left with houses she does not want she can choose to not sign the waiver - however she can still receive COB's or go through Spring rush to try it again. Another option is that if a girl opens her bid and doesnt want the house she can talk to one of her group leaders or another person in charge of rush and decline her bid - so she stays back when all the girls run to the house. Another option is that she can go meet up with the other girls standing by the house's letters and choose to run to the house...Which in my opinion, is the best option. Lots of girls completely turn away all the other houses if they don't get their #1 and its sad. All the houses are great. Literally.

Personally I only preffed one house so my bid day experience was different from most. My roommates were up all night freaking out and I went in knowing what I was getting. I didn't love it at first but I gave it a chance and now I'm in a leadership position so you never know what'll happen

I just want to warn you, many more girls this year did not get their first house compared to other years. Most girls I know didn't get their first house. I think this is because the sheer number of girls rushing keeps getting bigger and bigger. You are still likely to get your first house, but I got my second house and wasn't expecting it all because people told me I would get my first house. It isn't guaranteed and it's getting less likely so just make sure you're prepared for whatever happens. Good luck with rush :)

If you have 1 house at pref, you know where you will be going. If you have 2 or 3, be very happy to have been kept to the end by more than 1 house. Don't quit if you don't get your 1st house. Meet your new sisters and decide after a few weeks if it really is a match.

Same. I only had one house left by pref night, and if you only have one house left then you're guaranteed a bid to that house, so I wasn't surprised when I open my bid. Also, I wasn't too thrilled over the house but I decided to give it a chance and I determined that I'd pledge but if I didn't like it I'd drop before initiation so I could rush again if I wanted to.
