Aloha Phis don't have old money or anything....but other sororities with heavy northern influence certainly do have style, class and plenty of money...they just don't talk brag about it....in case you didn't know, folks with money don't discuss it...especially on GR. There are still schools where wealthiest = best and old money > new money. Over at the UT Austin board, the Big Six dismiss "lesser" houses because they have -- gasp! -- "middle-class girls." Phi Mu and AXO could never be in the top three at Texas because they're "nouveau riche."

I guess it says something good for Bama that we're getting away from that mindset.

Noveau Riche social climbers.......

Where I come from, that is earmarked by people in preppy clothes bought on credit, driving leased BMWs and joining places they have no business being and acting like they "have it".

That is an earmark of Old Row, sweetie.

And always has been. There are, and have always been, girls in these houses, simply faking it.

No one is buying the every member "exclusive to the core" veneer of these houses.

Just the same, a confident old money girl from OOS or otherwise, has no reason not to join new row. Real old money doesn't need to prove anything.

The only ones pushing this agenda are the fakers.

I saw one of the bluebloods of Mobile society picking her nose in public at a Mardi Gras ball once. It was amazing how far she was able to get that finger up her nose, and she went at her task with a sang-froid that the lower orders can only dream of.
