Things like lackluster grades don't matter much with the new row houses. They can be well liked regardless of that. The character issues like getting arrested etc. matter but not as much as they would with old row. The new row doesn't care about many of the things the old row does, like connections, the right camp, the right zip code, being a debutante, etc. Those things that old row is great at are not even valued by new row. The new row houses are much more personality driven (and for a couple of houses looks driven).

The truth is...for oos girls, they have "connections" and many come from great "zip codes" sadly Old Row is too closed minded to know about them. I went through rush and was well qualified and fit the bill but Old Row is really too focused on the in-state girls. That's what will kill them in the end. There's just too much talent from the north. We are really more sophisticated...and as a result New Row offers a tremendous opportunity for us. I'm not picking on Old Row but if you really want to effectively compete...you'll need to open your eyes to more than old south girls. The numbers from oos students and the national appeal of the school will leave you in trouble at some point and the transformation has already begun. It really is reality. Not building up new row and not putting down old row. Just a numbers game in the end!

PNMs don't come with a number attached to them saying they're #3 or #784, so each house is looking for girls that fit their own house. Old row DOESN'T have to look more at oos girls because they LIKE the girls they choose and want those girls in their house. It may be an eye opener to you, but houses don't have numbers attached to them that everyone agrees on either. Each girl is looking for a place she feels at home and comfortable. And MOST girls don't make that choice based on what the anonymous posters on greek rank rank the houses that have invited them back. Sorry, but I'd rather be in my grandma and mom's house than in a house y'all rank higher. I don't care and most girls I know don't either.
So PLEASE stop the madness about old row / new row. It doesn't even exist for sororities anyway.

I agree with you message, except Mom and Grandma's house is what keeps getting top tier ranking here.
To each their own!
But the idea that the old row is top with the "best" girls (as measured by wealth, good taste and grades with the most popularity and desirability) just isn't true anymore.
A few old row houses are still top, but others have marginal reputations with an appeal that limited to similar old row fraternities and are popular mostly among students from a few zip codes.
However, we still see ranks that put old row right across the top.
Again, focusing within your zip code is great if that's what you want. But it hardly makes you considered top among all the students here.
When I see these old row are top rankings I typically laugh, and tend to believe it is an alumn, a Mom, or a self ranker. \n\n\n\n\n

The original ranking is more accurate for the way it is now. Yours is a little old school...

Rankings are very polarizing.
Old row isn't as demure as many posts suggest, and new row is not as "wrong zip code" as many suggest. They are more similar than anyone will ever admit.
Despite old row admitting more oos, it really is a matter of an in state versus out of state divide.
For example, In state girls are tripping over themselves to get to a DKE party, where the "connected" boys are, while out of state girls literally never heard of " DKE", or if they have, see them as pudgy guys with a bad attitude.
In state girls feel they have better prospects elsewhere (outside old row) and this is true.
But this is still BAMA and, despite more students being from oos, the state from which MORE students are from ( than any other) is STILL Alabama. And a a result, this old row still has appeal and rank. \n\n\n\n\n

Well that's the whole point, you said it yourself- "I moved back to my home state." Almost every girl coming through has the brains and the beauty, but old row would much rather have an in state girl who's going to come around and give them money post grad than an OOS girl who's going to move away and not be an involved alumnae member.
