gamma phi

Gamma Phi used to be bottom of the bottom and once struggled with numbers to the point that their national considered shutting them down. Over the past decade, they've gradually improved thanks to RFM and increased interest in Greek life overall, but the new house has helped them even more.

Some people will probably never take them seriously because they've been only been on campus since the late '80s, but they're easily a lower-middle house now. Lots of out-of-state/non-Southern members. Grades are toward the bottom but not embarrassingly bad. They're Machine-affiliated now, which should help increase their involvement on campus.

They've always been known for great sisterhood, although the chapter is so big now that cliques are inevitable -- but that's in every house.

I think GPhi is a fairly good sorority. The sisterhood is strong! The chapter is strengthening. The new house looks amazing. I know several GPhis and they seem truly happy! I think I'd agree that it's a lower mid-tier house! Having said that, the girls involved in Greek life at Bama are really similar. Aside from all the bashing on this site, we all get along but with each other!

The used to have trouble recruiting but in the last few years, esp the last two, they have surged from the bottom tier to the middle of the middle tier. They're not flashy and they're not known for attracting only one kind of girl, so almost every girl they take finds close friends in the house. My last year's roommate went G Phi and so I know what they're really like. I agree we all get along in Bama Greek. My opinion is you won't go wrong with G Phi. I am a legacy to my house and it was incredible when my mom came to initiation and gave me my pin. I think you'd have fun being in your legacy house.

GPhi is great...but they all are! Stuck with your legacy. I tried but they cut my after sisterhood day! Darn!

So much hate...left feeling like you must be in a sorority now ranked lower. Too bad that you have so much ugliness. It doesn't speak well for you or your house.
And as for your unhappy roommate, her unhappiness at Gamma Phi doesn't say much for her or her personality. After all, she had no choices so that doesn't say much for the person she is.

As far as I'm concerned she should return the love to the one sorority that likes her.

Truth is...Gamma Phi has a terrific sisterhood. The girls are diverse...many of which appear to be so much fun, outgoing and in fact, quite attractive. I'd keep an open mind. I liked them during rush but went elsewhere. I could have been fine with just about any house including Gamma Phi except maybe one or two lower tier ones.

I went through rush joined elsewhere but liked this house and was not the bottom as @girly implies def on the uptick

So they have a nice house which has helped their reputation. They still have bad grades and aren't the cutest girls. They aren't terrible, but they constantly are in your face about how great they are. DG is a much better house, better quality girls, in a short time they've topped Gphi.
