It depends on who you ask, but there are two ways of looking at it. Are they bottom mid based on looks? No, they have a lot of really pretty girls, so for looks, they're a solid mid. Are they bottom mid based on reputation, grades, involvement? No, they are in the bottom tier for those. So it just depends on what's important to you as to how you compare the different houses.

Why all the hate for APhi? Worry about your own sorority and stop trying to stir s@ht up- maybe you are jealous ?

I picked my sorority for the connections it gives me during and after college (hope to go to law school). So to me the idea of picking a house solely because the girls are pretty seems silly. I picked a house with high grades, high involvement on campus and girls from prominent families. There are still tons of gorgeous girls in my house, but there's more to a sisterhood than just that. So I'll have a fun four years now, and then after law school I'll have the network I need to land a good job.

My point is, do not pick a sorority solely based on who has the prettiest girls, unless that really is the only thing that matters to you. And if that's the case, why are you even in college?

I'm sure you don't tell your friends/sisters that you like them because they may "get you something some day". But, do appreciate the honesty

Glad you are working it while your here, meeting the right people and their parents. Have fun with that.

I actually like my sisters. I

I doubt law firms care about undergrad sorority... But anyway. Good luck to you.

If you don't think law firms (and their clients) operate on lots of connections, you're sadly misinformed. If you plan to practice anywhere but in Alabama, you'd be advised to choose a sorority that is more nationally respected. Our top houses are mostly ones that are small or non-existent in other parts of the country.

Law firms care more about where you went to law school and how you did in law school than anything else. Unless you want to stay in Alabama, I'd focus on getting into a good law school and doing well there instead of worrying about what greek connections you have. People in other states actually care about academics.

The APhi girls here tend to look overly made up. It seems to be their brand. If they wanted to move up the sorority chain faster, they would try to grab more girls with better grades and involvement. They are "fun looking" and apply great fake eyelashes and contour for insta pics, but those seem to be the only facets they care about for now. For that reason, they may be a frat favorite house, but still lower tier.

They are bottom. They are beautiful, but this is Bama, a lot of girls beautiful. The tiers are based on class, prestige, academics, leadership and involvement, overall persona, and general likability. Looks can only get you so far.

Many tiers and rankings on GR are based on the old beliefs of a handful of housewives, stereotypically from Mountain Brook.

And, the most extreme comments and hate are posted in the evening by these women after a few drinks and taking an Ambien.

The beliefs on campus, about class, intelligence, likability, looks and prestige are quite different.

Hitting it early today, I see. About the time Bama football nailed the score. Have fun and don't black out, if you haven't already.

If y'all weren't threatened by Alpha Phi you would ignore them on this board. I'm not an Alpha Phi, but I suspect the MB mommies who populate this board have their granny panties in a bunch about a group that wasn't here in their 80s dark ages. Now these hot girls are getting all the attention that these faded mommies remember and long for now. Any sorority woman who says involvement before looks is lying. But, heck, I get that you need to rationalize the jealousy in your teeny tiny hearts.

Why is it that when people criticize a sorority, they're automatically jealous?

Actually our sorority looks for well rounded girls. Looks is one aspect of what we value, but it is probably the least important. We start out trying to release all the girls who don't have good grades, connections, reputations, community involvement, activities, test scores, etc. We love it if we can get girls who are already involved at Bama with cheer, honors program, etc. When we meet them, we see how they look. They don't have to be great beauties, but they do have to be put together looking. Or have the possibility of being helped to look put together. If you look at your alums you'll see that no one looks like an 18 year old beauty when they're 40. We want lovely accomplished ladies, so we don't just look for physical beauty.
