new england

Hi, I am thinking about coming to Alabama next year and I would like to rush. I am from New England, specifically Connecticut. I'm just wondering what sororities would be open to taking someone from the north, and what sororities wouldn't even give me the time of day. Thank you :)

All houses are open to girls from all states. Girls aren't cut because of what state they're from. :))
They are cut based upon opinion of your grades, HS involvement, looks, clothes, conversation skills, and if you mesh.
Really, only in-state girls face being cut by what high school they went to. For out of state, it doesn't matter as much; even for those houses that cut in-state girls. Connecticut is seen as a "desirable" state (classy, well-educated, semi-conservative in dress) so I doubt you'd have trouble anywhere unless you happened to know another girl from there that hated you.

Exactly. I'm not going to cut someone from Long Island because that's where they're from. I'm might cut them if they have the hair and nails of the Long Island medium, though. Too blond. Too long. Doesn't fit with the look in my house.

Long Island actually had several of the most sought after pnms this last cycle, so....

Agree. You won't get cut because of where you are from.

The vast majority, 90+ percent of girls who rush gets bids and for the majority of those that do it is because they suicided or decided against pledging at some point in the process

That being said, so called top houses can be "competitive" and harder to get a bid.

For those "competitive" houses letters of recommendations help, at least through the early rounds. And for those houses bring your looks, charm, appropriate clothes, great grades and Daddy's money to be there on bid day. \n\n\n\n\n
