old row has tons of oos girls
by: Old Row OOS
I'm not sure why y'all keep saying Old Row only pledges in-state girls. I'm in an old row house and the MAJORITY of our girls are from OOS. We have girls from every corner of the country. We don't cut girls during rush based on where they're from - we cut based on low grades, lack of involvement and bad reputations.
Wish everyone would just be nice and love the house they are in and stop making these boards a dumping ground for their bad attitudes. We are ONE greek system and we should support and love each other and act that way.

IMO it's not hate. It's branding/reputation
New Row finally established a brand identity. New Row is the it place to be if you are from out of state. New Row is inclusive for OOS and seeks you out. Yay for talented,
smart, fresh/new OOS women.
Old Row had their brand and let everyone know it for years -- tradition, exclusively southern, old school Alabama (MB, etc). Yay for legacy Alabama, already part of the club, women.

No doubt every house has tons of OOS and maybe even a majority of OOS. The thing is the old row have far less in proportion. Like an old row might be 50/50, while a new row might be 80/20 -- so the new row houses are just more diverse. Its not that old row has no diversity, they are just very heavily weighted with in-state.

Sure they have oos girls because the majority of pnms are oos, just as the majority of the student population is oos. There are certain houses that favor, strongly, in state girls. Those houses certainly have a good share of oos but you will see a distinct divide as time passes.

@OP, Yes old row has many OOS. Old row also cuts for not having the southern, Alabama connections, and then chooses to party exclusively with others of the same connection.
New Row becomes a thing that others desire. Especially OOS women. New Row is rockin' this rep. Can they have a positive rep too or is that only for Old Row?

I do see it as a rush "strategy". it is just how the actives in the new row houses actually feel based on their experiences both when going through recruitment themselves and in real life. I agree with the comments on here that in-state don't have to go old row and vice versa, but it will take years to continue the change because of the mommy networks and the home town peer pressure felt by many in-state girls to aspire for an old row house.
