I think APhi took 161, KD took 150, and Kappa took 148. I have no idea what AGD, XO, and Zeta took.

My roommate said Gphi was 164. Doesn't probably matter but thought I'd let you know

Someone told me GPhi was close to 170, but they lost a few and then picked up others through open bidding. Not sure what their numbers are now.

Even the houses that took way over quota, like gamma phi beta are now doing COB.

The houses that pledge way over quota are the ones that usually COB too, not the other way around. They are trying to reach chapter total.

So why are the houses that took way over quota the ones that usually do COB? Someone said earlier that the houses with high numbers like GPhi had more girls who placed them on their first choice list, if that's true, they wouldn't need to COB? I don't really understand why the houses with such big pledge classes need to add to their members?

The houses like AXO DDD and KD start off the fall with more actives than GPhi and Theta because they don’t have as many members drop or fail out or leave for whatever reason. So they are larger and closer to the before and after-rush chapter totals before rush starts. Just using those chapters since those were examples that someone asked about earlier.

The numbers over quota are quota additions. These are girls who did not match to any of the chapters they preffed, but if they rank ALL the chapters they preffed, even if it’s just one, then they will become a quota addition to a house they preffed as long as the house is still under chapter total. I think girls who don’t match are usually added back to the chapter they ranked first at pref if it doesn't put that chapter over total.

Houses like Gphi take grade risks, not being mean they are on the bottom for sorority GPA, so they have many more girls who fail or leave due to poor grades. They also have more girls who realize that house isn't a great experience. I had a friend who depledged them last year, the actives were mean and didn't treat the pc's well.

Phi Mu has actively been taking more members. Before anyone says it's not true go on insta. They literally have actives saying August 31st bid day? While posing with clearly a new member in a jersey at night at their house with their giant phi Mu letters. Looks like someone didn't do too hot in recruitment.

Why try to hide that you are doing COB, it inevitably gets out. The girls that attend events talk, and the ones that get bids really talk, plus it's in the spring grade report. There is no shame in doing COB!

And moms have been posting on the mom sorority recruitment groups for Bama that their daughter's have COB'd for Gphi. Why they would do this I haven't a clue but according to my mom they are!

Panhellenic sets a number called chapter total. It is a average figure based on the total number of members of each sorority. The sororities turn in their numbers prior to recruitment. The numbers are averaged to get TOTAL. Chapters below total can take in more new members by getting quota additions. Those are girls who have gone through the system and have accepted all of their invitations but did
not match. SOOO smaller chapters end up with larger pledge classes.
After recruitment a new chapter total is set. Chapters below this number can participate in COB.
During recruitment there are two quota figures. Freshman quota 134 and upperclass quota 12. All chapters attempt to fill freshman quota, but some chapters do not chose to fill upperclass quota.
