delta delta what?!
by: MeepI'm genuinely surprised that tri delt and Alpha Chi were under quota. It seems impossible. I preffed tri delt and although it wasn't home for me, it's a great house with a lot of solid girls. What gives? I'm genuinely curious not trying to bash anyone but I feel really really surprised.

Some sororities choose not to fill the upperclassman quota which is part of the total quota. The same sororities don't do COB either. They don't have to since their membership total stays high.
The sororities who have to pledge way over quota every year and then add to it with COB are the ones that struggle with membership total. They have to pledge more since so many drop out of either the sorority or school.

Just to settle these stupid rumors people can look on the grade reports. Won't let me post the link but these are on the UA Student Affairs site under Frat and Sorority Life then Resources then Reports.
In the fall reports alpha phi and zeta pledge over quota every year and get their total membership up. Then you can see in the spring reports that they COB lots of new members in the spring but their membership still drops a lot by spring.
Even with pledging more girls than AXO and DDD every fall and adding more with COB in the spring, Alpha Phi and Zeta still don't have nearly the Total Active Members by spring that AXO and DDD have. Last spring AXO had 402 Total Active Members and DDD had 387 compared to Alpha Phi's 334.
Don't expect DDD or AXO to COB this spring. They are not worried about a new and higher membership total. You can look at the spring grade reports to see who usually does COB and how many new members they took in the past.

The reason those two are under quota is because they had such historical return rates, they were able to cut a lot of girls at the beginning of the week. But because they cut so aggressively, they didn't have a large pool of girls go to pref with them. Which in the past would have been okay because they get the girls they want - but this year, the girls who went to pref at AXO/DDD decided to go elsewhere. And then AXO/DDD exhausted their bid list.
I know this rush lots of girls were disappointed that they were cut by those sororities at the beginning of the week and were never given a chance.

DDD pledged underclass quota and chose not to pledge upperclass quota.
They only take upperclassmen they are interested in pledging. Some sororities who take upperclassmen are required by their national organizations to take full upperclass quota. Tri Delta does not require this. So there you go, those are the facts.

Heard gphi's return rates this year were just above 80 percent, and I know there were other new row houses that had higher rates too. Now I'm not saying gphi took ddd or axo's girls but it all trickles down and that higher percentage had to come from somewhere. You really never know why numbers are the way they are
