should i drop

by: SadPNM

I really don't like the house I pledged, girls were crying in the house and on the lawn saying they didn't want to be there. When actives tried to start a chant no one from the new class joined in. Everyone seems unhappy and wants to drop. Should I drop? If I drop do I stand a chance at getting into any sorority especially the one where I felt at home with through this entire week. Thank you!

Don't you wait a week and see if you have found something to like about your sorority. Understand that the sorority where you felt at home didn't feel the same about you or you would've ended up on their lawn, chanting along with them. If you drop you cannot rush again until next formal recruitment.

Look, you've got to put something into anything you join to make it worthwhile. Standing on the sidelines wringing your hands is a terrible way to go at it. Get in there, find your people, throw yourself into it, and then see how you feel!

It hasn't even been 24 hours. You honestly don't even know these girls yet. You see a whole another side after recruitment. You've already signed your card so you can't rush until next year. You might as well give them a try for now. You may be surprised and like it. That being said, actually throw yourself in there and don't go through the motions. This way you know you gave it a fair shot and you didn't just cop out. If it still isn't for you then drop before your first new member payment and try again next year.

Dear Cryer,
I know of 5 girls that would love to take your spot.

Step up. Volunteer to lead a committee right now. Be a winner. Prove your resume. Prove your value. It's time for you to prove why you were chosen to be in a Bama sorority.

2800 went through rush and over 2400 got bids. Where is this 1k girls didn't get bids stuff coming from?

I have a hard time believing 100+ girls are unhappy - sounds like someone trying to create drama where none exists.

2800 didn't even participate...some signed up and didn't begin rush. Only a little over 2600 actually participated in all the girls that signed up.

Some sign up just to get to do early move in and begin their partying every year so there is always a bit of a drop from registration to actual participation.

How long has it been, like five minutes?

If you want to drop because you haven't connected with anyone yet, this sort of thing takes time. Give it a few weeks, at least.

If you want to drop because everyone on GR says your sorority sucks and you just can't get past this...drop.

Will you get a bid next year or later on? Probably not. This IS your chance to be Greek. Take it or leave it.

Sometimes new things are hard. Stick with it and do it with your whole heart - don't go into it thinking you might drop or you'll never get close to anyone
