snap bids and cob
by: lolSo my best friend is probably pledging a sorority I went to sisterhood to and that was my first choice. I was dropped by every other house but I've been reading that within the next few weeks, the houses will still be giving out bids. She definitely will pull for me. How likely is it that this will work out? I have a good GPA and scores and honestly I am so confused why I was dropped. I connected well with the girls inside the house too.

Let's straighten out a few things you just mentioned so you have the actual facts:
1. Snap bids are given out tomorrow morning IF a house does not make quota. All of our houses tend to make quota so basically count this out as an option for you.
2. COB- you said that "houses will still be giving out bids in the next few weeks". Let me change that to "SOME houses MAY give our bids in the next few weeks. And there is no guarantee that the house your BFF might be pledging will even be eligible for COB.
How COB works;
-After rush, Panhellenic will set the chapter "total" number for this semester. Total is a math equation but is kind of like the average chapter size.
-Houses below total may COB up to total. Ie, if total is 370 and a house has only 367, they may extend 3 COB bids. If a house is over total (which about half the houses will be), they cannot COB.
-Houses that are eligible for COB will usually give out bids to friends of actives IF there are only a few spots. If a house has 5+ openings, they may decide to hold informal rush events that are invitation-only.
3. Lastly, some houses (my guess is around half)) have a "once cut, always cut" rule. If your dream house has this rule and cut you, there is nothing your friend can do to help,
4. You need to realize that your chances of getting into this dream house are close to zero. Should your friend get a bid, she should let the VP Rush know your name & interest on the off-chance they COB and you are eligible.
