Sometimes it's no a matter of a PNM doing anything. The sororities still have to make lots of cuts before preference. It's a matter of other PNMs being higher on their list for many reason. If you made it to sisterhood round, everyone was really interested in you! I'm so sorry this happened to you. Unfortunately it happens to a lot of PNMs every year.

I'm so sorry. As hard as it is to hear, you didn't do anything wrong. Alabama rush is incredibly competitive and every year great girls who would have made amazing sisters fall through the cracks.

Take time to mourn the loss of what could have been, and then go look into all of the other great campus organizations that you can get involved with this year.

Did you cut a lot of the supposed "lower" houses and are you oos?

Would be nice if you could answer this. If you did it would be a cautionary tale to help others in the future.

This happens a lot. PNMs keep getting asked back to "upper" houses while the the "lower ones drop off their schedule. Then right before pref they get dropped by all those "upper" houses and have no options left because they bought into the tent talk.

And if you're oos I would make the best grades possible and transfer back to your own state and rush there next fall. Not saying this to be mean but I would have done the same in your shoes and thought about it early my freshman year anyway. I'm from oos and pledged one of those supposedly lower houses. If it wasn't for my sorority I would leave but I love it!

ok troll. PNMs don't do the cutting. I ranked how I felt, sisterhood I had DG, ZTA, Pi Phi and AXO. I'm out of state but very southern with Bama ties. I'm not a cautionary tale bish.

Or even transfer for next semester if your hs grades are good enough to get in elsewhere -- and make really good grades here next semester. A lot of schools do formal recruitment in the spring.

Now I see why you got cut -- that attitude as you have now learned won't get you very far bish.

Transfer schools just for not getting into a house??? Thats crazy. I didn't just rank "top houses".

If you have strong Bama ties, then let your active friends know you'd be interested in a COB spot should one come open. Can't hurt! And most COB bids go to friends of actives.

I was dropped too but honestly I'm really relieved. The houses I was left with I didn't like and the whole thing just seemed to obsessive for me! Also, there are way too many rules and it's 10k a year so why spend that much money on something you don't love?

This is true. There is another plan for your life and you checked Greek life out but a different, and perhaps better, path was meant for you. Greek life is not everything. Plenty of GDI girls at all the Dartys and stuff. A ton of girls do not even start to participate because of lack of funds.

OP, you are just upset right now and I do not blame you. You were rolling very, very well and having THOSE four for round three reasonably had you expecting you would do okay, especially if you felt comfortable at DG (a very fine sorority). You are not a cautionary tale because other Zeta and PiPhi are top of new row and do actually cross rush with all the old row houses to some degree or another. If I were you I would just stay calm and pray for a snap bid. You may be a perfect candidate for it. And if not, then you probably have the ability to get a COB in the spring. You may not COB at any of those four, since they released you, but also you may find that they want to gobble you up as fast as they can but they were in a bad numbers crunch.

in other words, whatever was getting you back to those houses to round 3 is not changing and you are still in this. do not make a scene. do not tell others on your hall or wherever that you have no parties. you may get a call and actually be at the stadium tomorrow. Call your rho chi.

I'm so sorry! Good advice about about snap and COB. You actually have a lot of options, depending on what YOU want. You should certainly look at the hundreds of organizations on campus for fit. You can look at SDT if you want to be in a house this year and the other doesn't pan out. You can wait, make friends, and try again next year.
A lot of it is having someone inside pulling hard for you. Truly. Someone that isn't also trying to pull in someone else, because they have to spread the love.
I hope you are able to bounce back and have an awesome year anyway. Good luck!

You did nothing wrong and you should definitely COB. It is a numbers game and sometimes great girls fall through the cracks. If any of those groups need to COB, they will bid you. it sucks but don't take it personally, they wouldn't have taken you that far if they didn't like you. Sometimes, they have too many legacies and sometimes its hometown that has to pull for certain girls.

Receiving a snap bid may be an option for you (though it happens rarely here). I really wish you hadn't told us which houses you went back to for sisterhood because that makes it easier to identify you. Plus, using language like "bish" isn't going to look well on you at all.

Oftentimes, sororities who cut too aggressively in the beginning of the week but aren't popular during the later part of the week may not have enough girls pref them, leaving a few open spots for snap bids. Usually the sororities who need to snap aren't "lower" houses but they're houses that historically have been strong but just this year they haven't been so hot.
