trying to stick with this
by: HelpI am so sad and confused right now. I have the grades, the involvement, volunteering, recs, appearance, good family that everyone said the houses are looking for. I did really well after first round, so I was shocked when I got my list back today. I can be pretty shy when I first meet people, so other girls are saying it could've been because of that, but at this point I have mostly "bottom tier" houses left. The thing is, I've actually really liked the girls I've met in those houses. They seem so sweet and genuine and like they really love being sisters. But I am concerned about like the stigma that comes with being in a "lower tier" house. Is it really as bad as it is on here or during rush? Like are people going to judge me, make fun of me, refuse to be friends with me, or not invite me to things because I'm in a "lower tier" sorority? I'm not trying to bash any of these houses, because I really like them and may end up in one of them. I just want honest opinions about this because it's the only thing that's making me question being in these houses. Thanks!

No!!! This is exactly why this website is so bad. Every girl has so much pride about being in their sorority and they want to be seen as the best so they forget sometimes that other girls in those sororities are real people with real emotions too. Most of the bad talk on this website comes from people full of insecurities and jealousy. I have so many friends that are in sororities that are talked about on this website as "bottom tier" but they're such top tier people in my life. I'm sure there will be girls that will be catty and not want anything to do with girls in sororities that are deemed "worse" than theirs but honestly why would you want anything to do with people like that anyways. You just have to be postive through it all and in the end you'll meet YOUR people, sisters, that love and care about you so much!! Stick with it girly!

I didn't know until I was on this side of things, that for some houses your ACT matters too. Like, an average girl going through has a 26, so for some, they cut you with anything below a 30. Zip code too, dumb as it is.
Try not to feel bad. It's really about having someone in the house pulling hard for you at this point. Be it someone you know, or someone who's developed a "rush crush" on you and wants you to get in. I'm super introverted too, so I feel ya! Girls are friends in all the houses! No one will exclude you! Just try to really connect tomorrow with the girls you talk to. Smile. Ask them questions about their major, what the like most about their house and UA, etc... Hang in there!!!

Look the difference between bottom tier sororities and top tier is razor thin, if it even exists anymore. Your experience at any sorority will be similar. You will be able to find friends and the high school mindset goes by the wayside after first semester. I've got friends in almost all sororities, which is why you shouldn't say anything bad about any house to an active in another. The texts will be flying. And you will be toast!

There are NO BAD HOUSES at Bama. NOT ONE.
Bad houses don't make quota every year. Ours do.
Bad houses don't have 300++ members. Ours do.
Bad houses don't have the finances to build $5 million+ mansions. Ours do. \n\n\n\n\nYou are going through one of the most competitive rushes in the country this week. If you haven't noticed yet, the so-called lower tier houses have just as many gorgeous, smart, involved, talented girls as the top houses. The difference between them is more along the lines of legacies and connections, not "good girls" and "awkward/loser girls".
Be thrilled you have 4 options left. The Greek experience is the same in every house, just every house has its own unique traditions. You'll have a Big Sis, go to parties, participate in Greek and campus events, have leadership opportunities, be able to live in a gorgeous house with your closest sisters, etc in every house.
Tiers are for shallow, insecure girls who thrive on putting others down to make themselves feel better. Real sorority women know we're all amazing houses that would be top on any other campus!

#7by: Involvement on campus
Pick the one that has the most involvement / leadership roles on campus. Many of the "bottom tiers"
have had more success as leaders on campus than the so called "top tiers". Think long term and you'll be fine. "Bottom tiers" are winning where it counts!
