by: MelodyI'm so devastated at my schedule this morning. I'm too embarrassed to even reveal the number of houses that did invite me back. I'm mostly just in need of words of encouragement and success stories from some of you who started with a limited about of houses. I loved the time I spent in the houses I did get invited back to, but the amount that didn't invite me back just breaks my heart.

Don't freak out. As many people said, it just takes one. At the end of the week, you can only accept one bid. I got cut by about half the houses after round one, and I still got a bid to an awesome house and loved my time in that sorority. Keep an open mind, and remember that the houses that kept ypu saw something special in you that the other houses are missing out on.

I received the dreaded call this morning. I told myself I wouldn't cry, but I did. Hard. My Rho Chi even cried with me, which made me cry even more. I'm even more upset after hearing there is a once cut, always cut rule with some of the sororities. This just breaks my heart because I'm scared my top choices are one of them..
I have went to the two houses that did invite me back for philanthropy round. I liked them and liked the girls, but I didn't love them. I felt somewhat uncomfortable in both houses.
Thank you all for your kind words. I've signed up for COB and I'm considering giving SDT a try. I don't know.

I'm so sorry. It sounds like we all missed out an awesome girl. Definitely sign up for COB or SDT. These are great options. There are also wonderful volunteer opportunities thru the university. praying for you Melody!!

So many numbers in our process Definately results in a lot of misses. Pnms that should not get a bid do, then awesome girls like melody are big misses. It is our loss. Melody do not go away. Please. Be in our Greek system somehow.

Good luck, Melody!! You seem like such a sweet girl with an amazing attitude!! It is definitely our loss...and if it works out, SDT's gain! SDT may be smaller than the others, but I've heard that they have an extremely close sisterhood (and that's what's most important about joining a sorority, anyway!) and that the girls in SDT generally love their experience. Plus, SDT is still a NPC sorority, with all of the benefits of lifetime membership. If SDT doesn't work out for any reason, PLEASE consider COB. We don't know the details yet, but if any house decides to COB, I'm sure they would love the chance to get to know you better outside of the intense environment of formal recruitment. And the houses miss great girls all the time. Having the ability to see that unpolished gem is something the "lower" houses are very good at and in the end many of the lower tier houses have better sisterhoods and more life long friendships come out of it. This is not a popularity contest. Very few people on campus care about house identification. If a pnm is wise enough to see what is truly important in a sorority then she will be placed well for her and if she invests she will get back tenfold. Not bashing top houses. They are great too but the depth of real quality girls fades in proportion to how many entitled members there are. Truth.
