Considering the max houses you can attend for then 2nd round is 12, you'd only have the chance to drop 4 (assuming all 16 houses invited you back), not 5. DG would be the 5th lowest house in terms of prestige, IMO.

One of the most popular girls from my high school is a Theta at Alabama. She's not from Alabama and didn't have any connections here. A lot of her sisters are also from out of state and really cute -- and nice. I was surprised to see that Theta is considered a "bottom house" -- that's ridiculous.

I know another girl from my state as well who did get one of the supposed "higher" houses. She was shocked because she also has no AL connections but had a fantastic GPA -- is at UA on a full ride scholarship. She said all of the OOS girls in her house hang out together.

Just be happy with where you end up -- things have a way of working out for the best and from what I hear it's a very complex recruitment at UA.

The thing is... You can "want" to be a AXO or DDD or whatever house you think is for you. But the houses get to choose who is right for them.

You don't drop any house. You get to rank them, but it does not matter unless the house ranks you high also.

So if I drop the "bottom 4" the first day, it won't help me have a better chance of getting one of the most prestigious chapters? I don't think I'll fit in with the bottom 4 and I've heard that, like op said, if you keep some of them then I could end up there at the end. I don't want that. So I guess I'll rank the bottom 4 last, drop DG and APhi the next day, then decide what other 2 I want to drop then...ahh this is so nerve wracking! I just want to end up in a good house!!

The only way that will be possible is if no other houses decide to drop you after the first round, which is unlikely. No houses dropping you after the second round is even more unlikely. You can try, and may get rid of some of them, but don't count on anything.

So dumb! A recipe to be dropped completely or have like one house at pref. Dumb because you would be letting gossip impact your experiences and deny you a chance to find the perfect fit for you and perhaps your best friend for life. All because you thought you were too good to even invest in getting to know people. If this is your mindset you really ought not do recruitment. I would not want u I know that.
