past rush

by: 19

I remember last rush going in with an open mind and not listening to what Greek rank said about the different sorority houses. I wish I paid attention because I ended up with 3 of the bottom sororities because I dropped most of the top tier houses first +second round. There is a reason why certain houses are ranked upwards in the tier system and reasons why some are bottom houses. If you get a bottom house honestly drop and rerush next year. I promise it will be so much more worth it when you get into a house with better sisterhood, events, more philanthropic, and better rep.

So you dropped last year and are rushing again this year. Let us all know how that works out for you. I'm thinking with a record number of pnms, last years leftovers, who only had bottom houses isn't going to work out so well. If you are lucky a bottom house might take a chance on you, most likely you get dropped completely first round. And those bottom houses can probably figure out who you are as there aren't that many girls rushing again who dropped after getting a bid. You are going to have to wear a special name tag and don't think friends won't ask their friends in the house you dropped all about you.

You're right there is a reason some houses are ranked top and others are ranked bottom: tradition. At a school like Alabama tiers aren't determined by which houses have which type of girls. Every single house on this campus has something they excel at and something they could stand to improve. To suggest that bottom tier houses don't have good sisterhoods, events, or philanthropies is insane. My house is towards the bottom. Of course it would be nice if our reputation would be better. Let's be honest, who doesn't want that? However, I still have found an amazing sisterhood through my house. We raise tons of money for our philanthropy. As for events, we have all of the same events that upper tier houses do. We have swaps, date parties, formals, sisterhood events, and annual philanthropy events. I think you're a troll but if you aren't, I think Greek life may just not be for you because other then the letters on your tshirt every sorority offers a very similar experience.

You're saying you couldn't see the top tier sororities' sisterhood during the first round or two of parties that you actually attended, so much so that YOU dropped THEM? And suddenly, somehow, a day or two later when you had three lower houses left, you discovered the top tiers' "better sisterhood, events, more philanthropic, and better rep" even though you had stopped going to their parties? Right.

I think she meant that she chose not to listen to "the upper tiers are actually better" talk. I read this pretty often and have seen people say "drop the top houses because they aren't going to take you anyway". So I think she means she listened to the drop the top houses talk and regrets it. Personally when I went through rush I tried to keep an open mind but really did see a difference in some of the houses. I remember when I was at a lower ranked house a girl told me "Do you like out house??? Its beautiful and new!!! We really want you to be a _______". I didn't hear anything like that from some of the houses that are ranked "better". Just follow your heart. I know I did and I'm extremely happy with my house
