preference
by: New greekI'm the first one in my family to go greek, so I don't know much at all about the specifics of rush. Could someone please explain to me how preference works in terms of getting a bid? I've heard that if a sorority puts you on their list but you don't put them on yours that you can't get a bid from that sorority...can someone clarify how it works?

Go to as many houses as you are allowed to attend each round, including pref. When the pref parties are over, you will be given a form to list the houses you pref'd in order of 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice, if you have that many choices, and this is your commitment to join any one of those houses if offered a bid. This is called maximizing your options. If you do not list one of the houses that you pref'd, your chance of getting a bid from any house is greatly diminished. This is because the houses are limited to a certain number of new members, called quota, and can't just bid as many as they want. PNM's who attend as many parties as they can and list all houses they pref'd, are prioritized for bids over PNM's who do not list all their pref'd houses.

How do houses choose you? Do they all vote together on who to invite back after each round?
