scheduling

What does a typical week as a sorority pledge look like? I was just wondering if you'd have enough time for a part time job or if meetings would most likely get in the way of working week nights

a typical week would include a meeting once a week with your pledge class, chapter, you'll want to eat dinner at the house to meet your pledge sisters, pledge parties the first few weeks, every thursday nights are swaps, friday nights band parties, and saturdays are game days. I didnt have a job and it was a lot to handle including my classes. I have sisters who made it work and managed to do it all but it's a lot! Maybe wait until second semester when it's a lot calmer!

I took morning classes and worked during the afternoons. (I was able to schedule it so I didn't work past 6) It was a lot and I had to miss out on some things but it wasn't unmanagable. I wouldn't suggest it but if you really need a job you can make it work.

Agree. It is easier to work in the spring. As a first semester freshman there is a lot to do besides sorority stuff. So I saved saved from summer jobs for the fall.

My spring semester I worked some Friday and Saturday nights plus a few weekday evenings at a restaurant.

If you are lucky enough to get a campus job in between class times... That would be cool

I would NOT recommend working your first semester if you can avoid it. You will have a lot going on with your sorority commitment (not just pledge activities but all the sorority ones as well) and need to focus on keeping your grades up, too. Plus, adjusting to being away from home, having time to make new friends, etc. It's a lot.

Basically I have to work for my sorority $$$ and fun money. My parents pay for housing, phone and an extra food budget (plus hair, most make up and a reasonable clothes). I realize I am lucky in that. But if it is at all sorority/theme party/t shirts/craft/ummm DRINKING, its all me. My first term ended up ok because I planned for it. My M/W/F morning was brutal I tried to get as many morning classes so I would have time for class, and work and new member term. I made it. Just have a plan for picking your classes in the best way. It was really freakin hard but it get so much better after your first semester .
