chances?
by: PNMI'll be an exchange student this upcoming fall from london and I'm 100% interested in rush, but just wondering what are the chances of me receiving a bid from a top sorority as i'm black and know that the racial diversity is different especially in the south than in the UK. If so, which sororities would i stand a chance with?

If you are truly a one year exchange student, you will not get a bid. Chapters are not going to waste a bid on someone who won't be able to fufill the four-year commitment. Now if you're an international student coming for all four years, you should go through rush & hopefully you'll find a home. I know many sorority alumnae groups do have chapters in the UK so try to get as many recommendation letters as you can. Being black is far less of a problem than not being here all 4 years.
If you are only here for one year, make friends with Greeks so you'll be invited to fraternity parties and can try to absorb as much of the experience as you can without being a member.

PS- drop the "top sorority" ambitions and be open to ALL of our wonderful houses. The Greek experience is pretty much the same in all houses- Big/Lil Sis, pledge retreat, date parties, participating in Greek events, etc. There truly aren't any "bad" houses here and all the houses have 300+ members. US campuses with bad/ low tier houses actually have houses that don't make quota and have like 40 members when all the other houses have 250.
