letters of recommendation

by: Pnm

Hello so I know there's been some post on here already about letters of recommendation for rush but I visited the Panhellenic page and still have questions! I'm from OOS and new to this so please don't be rude about this post!
For the Alumnas we send our stuff to that don't live in our city, do I need to mail them all of the stuff or do I need to email them my stuff?
Also, I've been searching for a month so I'm not being lazy, but what if I can't find an alumna from each chapter? Is it weird to find an alumna online and ask for her to write me one even if I don't know her?
Last question, on the envelopes we send with our stuff, do we write the address to be sent straight to the sorority house that's on their websites? Or the Panhellic address? And do I put my address as who it's sent from or will the alumna write hers?
Thank you in advance! I am stressing! Sorry if the questions are dumb!

I'm OOS too and I feel that stress. I found as many as I could with people I knew and then began to send very polite, formal emails to my local alumnae associations asking if they would be able to help me find local alumnae and attached my resume "just in case" (so they can see you're qualified!). Those who responded were incredibly nice and found people to help write me some, some of which actually worked for my school once or participated in the same local charity as me so weren't total strangers! Make sure to be gracious if you do this because they don't have to! I know it's better to not get strangers but if worse comes to worse, I hope this advice helps!

For the Alumnas we send our stuff to that don't live in our city, do I need to mail them all of the stuff or do I need to email them my stuff? - Send hard copies, do not email. (And it's alumnae not alumnas.)
what if I can't find an alumna from each chapter? Is it weird to find an alumna online and ask for her to write me one even if I don't know her? - Do what @another pnm says above and contact your local panhellenic and alumnae chapters. No, it's not weird.
on the envelopes we send with our stuff, do we write the address to be sent straight to the sorority house that's on their websites? Or the Panhellic address? And do I put my address as who it's sent from or will the alumna write hers? - Address envelopes to the individual chapters, not to panhellenic. The return address is the rec writer's, not yours.

For the Alumnas we send our stuff to that don't live in our city, do I need to mail them all of the stuff or do I need to email them my stuff? - ASK YOUR REC WRITER HOW SHE WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE YOUR INFO. WHEN IN DOUBT, E-MAIL AND TELL HER YOU'LL BE GLAD TO SNAIL MAIL PAPER COPIES, TOO.
Also, I've been searching for a month so I'm not being lazy, but what if I can't find an alumna from each chapter? Is it weird to find an alumna online and ask for her to write me one even if I don't know her? YOU'VE STILL GOT SOME TIME -KEEP SEARCHING. DID YOU ASK ALL YOUR TEACHERS? DID YOUR MOM ASK HER FRIENDS? NEIGHBORS, PEOPLE YOU WORK WITH, PEOPLE AT CHURCH. ASK YOUR DAD - MEN HAVE WIVES, MOTHERS, SISTERS, AND DAUGHTERS WHO ARE SORORITY MEMBERS. ONLINE ALUMNAE - E-MAIL AND ASK THEM, MAYBE SHE CAND FIND SOMEONE IN HER SORORITY CLOSE TO YOU. BUT KEEP ASKING AROUND FOR SOMEONE IN YOUR AREA.
Last question, on the envelopes we send with our stuff, do we write the address to be sent straight to the sorority house that's on their websites? Or the Panhellic address? And do I put my address as who it's sent from or will the alumna write hers? ENVELOPE ADDRESS SHOULD BE THE CHAPTER'S ADDRESS. SEND NOTHING TO PANHELLENIC. THE ALUMNA WILL WRITE HER RETURN ADDRESS ON THE ENVELOPE.
