Hey girls just letting you know that you could be cut based on what you wear. I'm not trying to scare you, but if you don't look like an image out of a free people catalog, kiss old row goodbye unless you have some serious connections. Lilly Pulitzer is social suicide here. Invest in a black wrap necklace, otbt's, snakeskin print anything, and some big gold hoops.
You're welcome.

I agree with this message except it paints old row as the only group really cares about style choices during recruitment. There are some old rows that are not that style oriented and I see sooooo many bad choices in those houses all the time, including pnms from past years and what they wore. Then on the other hand there are a few new rows that are as picky as some of the style oriented old row houses. so the old row point is not really valid. You may want to just split the houses as more "style/look focused" or not.

PS. The old rows that are pretty into style and overall look as a part of their evaluation are pm, axo, kd, tridelt -- while agd, kkg, chio not so much.

As a PNM who loves fashion... I looked at insta on these chapters and didn't see it. At least not that prevalent.

I like the look but will wear what I love.

I've got to actually study today, but I just want to help y'all. I want my future sisters to look good! Take a look at EllieTuscaloosa and the shirt shop on insta today. The dress at Ellie's would be good for Ice Waters with flats or skits with wedges. No bra straps, please! The dress at the shirt shop is a good idea for pref's (not quite, but a good idea). Wear a dress like that with dressy wedge sandals or nice heels. Make sure you can actually walk in heels, especially on slippery floors! You don't have to have brand name everything and I bought most of my stuff on sale when I went through. I wore an Easter dress for pref's and my graduation dress for one of skit rounds (yeah, it was Lilly in a ridiculous print. Whatever. It was in style then). Buy 2 pairs of 4-5 inch inseam shorts from JCrew (or someplace like that for cheap because you probably won't wear them again) for philanthropy. You're going to get a Greek Chic guide soon. That was helpful to me. Honestly, wear clothes and colors that make you happy and feel confident.

Why were so many girls at teas wearing raunchy rompers and dresses then?

I don't know about other houses, but at my house if you got an invite, it was because someone wanted us to get a better look at you. I know some PNM's were grousing about not being treated nice at some houses. I know if you came through our house and if you dressed like you were going to hit rounders later, I would try hard to see if you had a brain or were funny or something. We can still work with that kind of girl. If you looked like you were just there to be seen by others and to brag over how many houses invited you to teas, yeah...we moved on. Some girls we might remember as being questionable, some we might not. Just figure that recruitment is a big chance for a do-over and to let us want you.

ehh, my mama wears Lily, don't see many college students in it. OTBT are kinda basic at this point. up your game for recruitment, high school is over.
