rushing with friends

by: New

I'm going through rush with several friends and I know there is a pretty good chance we won't end up in the same house. That being said, what sororities get along well with eachother/have friend overlap? And on the opposite end, are there any big sororities fueds we should be aware of? I know this sounds like I'm rambling but idk just nervous about losing touch I guess

Personally, I don't think you have anything to worry about if you are true friends. I'm a GPhi and my best friends from HS are Zeta, AGD, TriDelt, and DG.

I see zta and pi phi friends; KD and Tridelt; axo and agd; AOII and adpi; dg and theta.

As a theta, while I can't speak for other girls, I'm friends with a lo of DGs and some AOIIs just because AOII is next door and DG and us tend to have similar girls.

There are girls in every house that have friends in literally every other house. The houses get along fine, fraternities and sororities. The Greek community is close and all the crap you read on here about tiers and all is overblown. There are great people everywhere -- you just have to look.

your bigger problem is when your friends get bids and you don't

Or get bids to the house you loved but didn't get.

it mostly depends on who you're living with your freshman year. In tut your friends are all in your hall and can range from every sorority.

some houses have a culture that just chews up a members time and staying in touch with your high school friends can be tough especially if the sororities are not in the same social strata. others are totally chill and are not hung up on it at all. but girl if you are really friends it does not matter if you all go to different houses. I would only add that some of your friends that end up in the same house may or may not end up closer. sometimes it ends up going the other way.

My freshman dorm roomie was an ADPi and I'm a GPhi. We have become great friends rooming together (we did not know each other prior). There are a few days we talk about wishing we were in the same sorority -- we like each others chapters. Most of the time we are just great friends and don't really care.

Feuds between houses?
If you go into rush even remotely thinking what to avoid you will be sorry.

If you and your friends gossip about houses i(good/bad) you will be sorry when one of your best friends only has one house left. That will be the good house for her but she will be thinking about the gossip.

The best policy is to agree among your friend group that you will be friends always no matter what, that you each deserve to find your perfect fit, that this means you likely will be split up and that you sort of covenant not to really talk about personal preferences or thoughts on different houses. In other words, it is time to take the next step, grow up a little and stand on your own. Even if you get in a chapter with several hs friends, you need to try super hard to branch out. if you don't, you cheat yourself and you also cheat the sisterhood you have become a part of.

There are definitely some sororities who encourage panhel bonding and some that really don't...

More like some houses just have more outgoing girls than others and some are very insular and cliquey
