actual honesty

I want to take advantage of using this site to talk to girl's rushing next month. I am in a Greek organization, maybe top tier, maybe bottom tier, maybe somewhere in the middle. But guest what, who cares?! I love my organization and I am very proud to wear my letters.

I don't believe PNM's should look on this site because it skews your decisions during recruitment, whether you believe it or not. It turns into trying to escape the bottom tiers and into just trying to see if you are good enough, or pretty enough, for that top tier sorority to show all of your friends at home and at tech that you are popular. But, being in a sorority is so much more than trying to be good enough.

Look at each of these sororities nationally. Some are very strong with great alumni connections. Remember, when you join a Greek organization, it is for more that your college years, it is a lifetime. If you are joining and/or not joining a chapter based on popularity, that is your loss. Each chapter has values and mission statements... look at those. See where you best fit outside of the campus chapter reputations and look to see where nationally, you fit in best. Wherever you go after college, you will meet ladies of your chapter, think what type of person you want to be and your friends to be.

If you are someone so insecure about "popularity" then you aren't joining a sorority for the right reasons.

Good luck to all you PNMs! <3

The truth is, some sororities at Cornell have become very "high school." If you are a confident, mature woman looking to find good friends and a fun group of people to share your college years and beyond with, then please disregard the "tiers." Trust me, if you just care about mixing with top frats (tbh you prob don't want much to do with most of those guys) or being seen as "popular," then you could have stayed in high school. Those who peaked in HS are the types you're likely to find in top houses (generally speaking--of course there are exceptions). Keep your eyes and ears open during rush...but be open to all houses. Joining a house for superficial reasons usually leads to a miserable year living with ppl who you come to resent.

what a generalization....."if you in one of the top houses, you've peaked in high school". WOW. Be quiet. There is nothing wrong with looking for the whole package: girls you feel good with, a group that is strong nationally, a group that is known for looking good and having a great rep on campus. Tiers play a part in this...A PART....and that's reasonable.

Sorry, but it's pretty true...aside from theta, most top houses aren't so great to live in. I'm living here, have an older sister who went here and parents who did. It has changed. Like I said, of course there are great girls in all houses, but general feeling is alpha phi, DG and Kappa no longer fun places to live. You're upset that I'm generalizing, but this site does so much of that--just trying to give freshmen something to think about besides top tier is awesome and bottom tier sucks. That's the generalization they get from this site
