BREAKING: IFC ON SOCIAL PROBATION

All fraternities affiliated with the IFC will be on indefinite social probation following several top/upper tier houses hosting winter formals. All houses will be on indefinite social probation as punishment. PNMs can still fully rush, but there’s a real chance NO parties will occur this semester.

bonehead move from the ifc. wouldnt be surprised to see multiple/almost all fraternities leave the IFC this semester if this turns out to be true.

Is this practical, or would the university try to expel people when something bad happens at these underground frats?

wouldnt expect these frats to move "underground", rather rescind their recognition of the IFC as the governing body for fraternities at Cornell. It is definitely not an easy process and some frats could risk losing their national charter by leaving the IFC. All i know is my chapter is discussing it, and im sure others are/will if this events ban is actually going to continue.

This is just not true, there hasn’t been a ban put in place. Focus on getting freshmen to join for recruitment coming up in 11 days, the social stuff is being worked out as we speak.

Realistically, if Chi Phi gets banned for something every other frat did, then every frat should get social banned too. But don’t get me wrong, all of this banning is nonsense and we should leave the IFC if this is how they want to run things.
