Or in league with Duke, Brown, Dart, Northwestern, Duke, Vandy, Hopkins?
Or in league with Cal, UCLA, WashU, CMU, Notre Dame, etc?

everything outside of Cornell Engineering and maybe CAS, should be tied with Emory, CMU, etc

I’m just going to be honest. Cornell is like the Michigan or Urbana Champaign of the Ivies. The intellectually brilliant student body here is very small as opposed to schools like Yale, Princeton or MIT or even schools like Chicago and Penn. I don’t even think Cornell’s intellectual atmosphere compares to Brown’s. IMO with the strong exception of the engineering and architecture colleges which easily attract elite talent, Cornell is more or less on par with WashU, UCs and Notre Dame. I would be tempted to say it is inching higher every year but the best it will probably ever reach is Vandy or Northwestern level of undergraduate body.

this is true but thats mainly because Cornell has a lot of students who barely even got into the Ivy League, esp in ILR and Human Ecology. these types of kids come to Cornell just because they can say they went to an Ivy but probably would have even been rejected by a top state school like Michigan. some of Cornell's programs really are elite tier comparable to schools like Stanford and Columbia. but most are either comparable to Vandy or below, some even comparable to Tufts and Chapel Hill

from what I know, kids who get into HYPSM usually did or had the potential to get into at least 3 or 4 Ivies total including their own, kids at Penn and Columbia usually did or had the potential to get into at least one other Ivy than the one they attend, and Dartmouth/Cornell/Brown kids are just lucky to even get into one

except for Cornell Engineering, i dont know anyone who would choose Cornell over any of the schools in the Second tier of Duke, Brown, Dartmouth, Vandy etc.

this is what it really is:

T1:
Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Princeton, Yale

T2:
Caltech, Penn, Columbia, Cornell Engineering, UChicago

T3:
Duke, Dartmouth, Northwestern, Hopkins, Brown

T4:
Cornell, Vandy, Rice, UCLA/Berkeley, CMU, WashU, Emory

by: agree but

yeah but all schools in these 4 tiers are literally in the topmost tier when you look at the bigger picture hahaha

fine but when I hear someone went to "Emory", I think damn this person is def clever. and if that's the bottom most school in your ranking then tbh your just comparing greats with greats

so let me guess you are a Cornell reject who goes to a Tier 5 school like Michigan or Tufts but have a soft spot for Cornell engineering because your Dad or Uncle went there or something

nope I'm just another guy who's been living in America all my life. ranking should be no surprise, but sorry if you've been gaslighting yourself since your Cornell acceptance
Cornell is a great school, no doubt. Its worth great praise. But it is overshadowed by many greater bastions of knowledge and power
