the real cornell schools

nah dyson and cas would still bring it down, below penn/columbia/chicago... i'd say with engineering and architecure alone, its in that category of HYPSM/Columbia/Penn/Chicago/Caltech... then if you add dyson and cas it goes to the Duke/Brown category and if you add cals it goes to Dartmouth/Northwestern and then if you add the rest, it goes to Vandy/UCBerkeley/UCLA/WSTL

the folks i know at penn and columbia actually strongly thought they had a shot at Harvard/Stanford/Princeton/MIT but simply didnt get in... i dont think anyone outside of CoE (and maybe a rare few CAS kids??) at Cornell actually honestly believed that Harvard, Stanford, Princeton or MIT was going to accept them

i didnt do the best i could in high school so hypsm was wayy out of my radar and this is true for pretty much 95% of Cornell. im not even ashamed to admit that i was choosing between michigan, bowdoin, hamilton and cornell. these were the only good schools i got into and i applied to like 30 including all ivies. Cornell has been a blessing, it truly is an "everyone's Ivy"

i dont think non-Engineering Cornell students realize what it takes to get into a top tier elite institution... not everyone has the genes for it... but getting into Cornell is still an achievement and no doubt a worthy investment for life
