Cornell kids so insecure so unsure

by: amazing

Laughing at the insane level of widespread insecurity among Cornell kids.... this page really is something.

PS, if you’re wondering, most of us state school plebes find Cornell to be an impressive institution but no where close to the elite HYPSM/Penn/Columbia. Feel sorry if you care that much about the national opinion.

(citing the IRP report for the class profile) Self reported stats for class of 2024 show that only about 83% of the incoming class was in the top 10% of their high school class.... for Yale it was 96%, Harvard was 95% and Penn was 93% .... big difference and I’m guessing it shows

I checked, technically it’s 83.7% of the class of 24 graduated at the top 10 percent of their high school . I’m not surprised, Cornell is a bigger school than the usual top 10 schools but still doesn’t detract from the fact that we are better than every state school out there

Now compare that to UVA plebe

Maybe someone can find more updated numbers but UVA previously reported as follows:

Among enrolled 2019-20 first-year students, an exceptional 90% hailed from the top 10% of their high school class

Highlights how admissions is watering down acceptances for the pursuit of “diversity and equity.” Code for rejecting qualified high schoolers for affirmative action quotas.

Seems like Cornell has the highest quotas then lol

Cornell clings so tightly to the idea that it is the "worst of the best" but no reasonable person could argue that it is in the same tier as the super elite schools. As everyone here recognizes, Cornell is an elite institution. It is not however in some one off class of its own but rather on par with other elite schools including public schools like UCLA, Berkeley, U Mich, and even UVA.

I agree completely. Cornell Engineering aside, Cornell really is a great school on par with UCLA, UCBerk, WashU and Dartmouth

Yeah I agree Cornell Engineering tends to accept kids whose talents are on par with HYPSM and Cornell Arts and Sciences is considered almost on par with Columbia and Penn, and Cornell Dyson is on par with UCLA, Berkeley, Emory and Dartmouth... the rest however is comparable to schools like BC, NYU, Wake Forest, UNC Chapel Hill etc.

I don’t think even Cornell students realize how poor the quality of students they have in AEM, Hotel, ILR and Human Ecology... or they do but can’t see how many there are of them

AEM has 2% acceptance rate, that should not be lumped with hotel and ILR at all. Literally the #1 undergrad business program.

Lmao you back at it again with your acceptance rate... you realize that undergrad business schools are the most applied to program in the country?? pretty sure Harvard medical school and the Columbia Physics PhD has a higher acceptance rate than Cornell AEM but we all know which is more prestigious ... it just happens that Cornell has a small business program so they take less people, and the less prestigious Cornell name draws a much larger pool of applicants compared to say Wharton or Harvard, so you’re gonna have way more applicants with way less self-selection

Not to mention the kids who actually attend Dyson are the ones who didn’t get into a better economics program like Harvard Econ, MIT Sloan, Stanford Econ, Penn Econ, Penn Wharton, Columbia Econ etc.... I bet there is some yield protection too

I'm guessing you didn't get into Cornell lmaoooo? Imagine spending a summer afternoon writing paragraphs to rag on Cornell.

Your take on Dyson is just wrong dude. It’s the #1 ranked undergrad business program, that’s why so many people apply and it has a ridiculously low acceptance rate.
