Based on mixing schedule, general opinion, popularity, how hard it is to get a bid, and how frats see them... you might disagree, but this is pretty much it right now... All of core four changes however you decide to see it, but Aphi has been fairly problematic recently and Theta has been lower in past years even though they are great at the rush process. DG is just assumed to be top house for some reason, and kappa has been on the rise lately, especially after taking a great pledge class last year. DDD has been falling and are not on par with SDT or Pi Phi anymore. SDT is as close to core four as you can get without being in one of those top four houses. Pi Phi has great girls, but they do not mix with top houses often. AZD takes a lot of girls that just don't get bids or have no other houses left, so they get a lot of relevant people by luck. I know a ton of girls who had AZD, put them second on their final list, and wound up there after getting cut from the house they wanted. These are all great houses, it shouldn't matter what tier it is if you vibe with a house, and mixing schedules aren't everything. There are really great frats and fun parties that lower sororities mix with. Core 4 is a popularity contest for some, and for others it's where they belong. Do this with an open mind, or you will not be happy in your house.
Here are the generally accepted rankings, but many will say this isn't accurate. If you want to know why, it is because tiers are literally just what we say is the best and what isn't. People will disagree because there is no such thing as formal rankings by the school or PHC... it all stems from social standards and this website. take with a grain of salt!
