The ASU guys is an idiot... the UT Austin guy makes a point that we spend too much time thinking we are all that but maybe he's right? idk i feel like the rest of the influential people in the country do make a 3 tier distinction between HYPSM, Columbia/Penn/Chicago and then us along with Brown/Duke/Dart/Northwestern/Vandy/WashU... either way I still don't see how UT Austin is even on par with us and Brown/etc. like that's just misguided school spirit?

By: wtf
by: Bruhhh

I was the dude joking with him and roasting him for being from Texas.

I can understand us being compared to like Northwestern or Duke, but I never even knew what a UT was before. Man was probably joking, if not he’s just delusional and there’s no point lol.

Regardless, this was a great way to relax from all the frats fighting lmao

Imagine turning down a Cornell acceptance for ASU for money. If it’s for the chicks sure, but money, bruh are you stupid. Unless it’s because you’re gonna be a pro athlete that’s the dumbest thing I’ve heard since Biden’s N word slip (happened by accident yesterday lmao)

LOL you guys really think top state schoolers look at Cornell as a superior?? Look up "Undergraduate Business School Rankings" and see where USNews puts UT Austin vs Cornell... We are #5 tied with Stern and your AEM program is #7 tied with CMU lol.... your kidding yourself if you think Cornell is not the same tier as UT for IB recruiting if thats where your concern is... and ask your Physics, CS and Engineering majors where they are considering for grad school research? I'm sure UT Austin is on the list, though it may not be at the level as Stanford, Princeton, MIT, etc

I will admit this.... if I was going to do graduate school, say a masters or Phd or MD, I would surely take Cornell over UT or Rice... but for undergrad y'all are the same tier as us.... you get the same college experience as us.. clearly shows from all the priority you put on greekrank and frat parties lol

^its cuz rush was entirely over zoom this year so everyone’s this site for the last few months to figure stuff out about rush.
The frattiest Ivy is definitely Dartmouth, then maybe Penn and us.

Dude, if you feel you go to a great school, then that’s fine. But why are you so insistent on letting us know how great your school is? No one I was with had ever heard of “UT” before

By: Lol
Report
by: Texas Longhorn

I know but its more than that.... I have close connections to Cornell and your school barely has any more resources per student compared to mine... its just the truth... we both have mostly good profs and a mix of great and average students... and the departments dont have money to provide special experiences for the undergrad students beyond lectures ... UT and Cornell are nearly the same level... I'd put Dartmouth and Duke in a middle level between us and HYPSM/CU/UP/UChicago

I'll admit I got rejected from Cornell and my ex-girlfriend got in and I am salty but at the same time when I realized she got in with a 30 ACT(!) and she's white (not affirmative action), I realized UT is basically the same

I was born in Tx... I do think UT Austin is a fantastic school but its not nearly as good as Cornell and pretty much everyone in the world will agree ... with that said, you're probably right that Cornell doesn't have the same yield as HYPSM/UPenn/Columbia because those schools have more expendable money per student and better history but that doesn't mean anything about what Cornell as an institution is like... I mean that's like saying Community College is on Par with State School because there's something better than State School

Not really.. My roommate rejected columbia and penn for cornell. I personally rejected Dartmouth, Yale, and UChicago for penn. Cornell, if it had any self respect (it is WAYYYY TOO LIB) would cut its acceptance rate in half. There is no reason why the school should accept 12% of applicants. If cornell had a lower acceptance rate we'd be equal to HYP.

By: Brow

by: Bruh

We’re about to have a sub 9% acceptance rate and you think that’s equivalent of prestige of UT Austin (~30%). Cmon dude, your school is good, but it’s not on the same level. To reference your state, that’s like saying your as competitive as Rice. UT isn’t even on par with SMU.

by: Bruhh

^ it cuz we got a bunch of wacko majors like entomology and like 4 different majors just to study the environment (it's important, but 1 is enough).

Acceptance rate is just naturally higher with all these niche majors

by: Brow

@Bruhh, you're right, but understand it reflects negatively on the entire uni. My friend turned down Stanford for AEM. My roommate in hs turned down Harvard for Engineering here. When Cornell accepts all these geeds with < 30 on their ACT theyre doing a disservice to all those who get sneered at for their cornell degree. The loser who dissed our school wouldn't be able to do that w/ princeton or Brown, and let's not pretend like we don't know why. Also, it hit a sore spot for many cornellians, myself included, and lets not pretend like that's not true.

By: Brow

by: Bruhh

Lol yea I’m agreeing with you. The geeds in all the random majors here bring us down. Regardless, we know how well we recruit for firms and where we are- can’t get mad over some rando from a school we’ve never heard of mess with you.

by: Bruhh

did you read through this guy's comments? His ex-girlfriend got into Cornell and he didn't.

This was the most hilarious salty content I've seen on this site, and we definitely needed this comedy after a rough zoom-rush. And I also learned what UT is now!

I did read his comment. And his gf should've gotten rejected for 2 reasons. 1. She dated his dumb ass. 2. A 30 on the ACT is not good. I went to a prep school down here and I knew kids who got rejected w/ a 34, 35. But hey, the dude above me spoke about acceptance rates.

By: Htown

by: Bruhh

^ lol same here dude. Went to a "famous private school" and most kids with 34/35 still got rejected here.

I'm willing to bet $$ that his ex-gf only got in with a 30 because she's studying some wacko major

They don’t call ASU the “Harvard of the west” for nothing! You guys have never attended a lecture drunk and it shows.

By: Chad
by: Barry

NO HUMAN BEING IN AMERICA HAS EVER REFERRED TO ASU as the “Harvard of the west”.

Stanford, yes.

Caltech, more MIT than Harvard, but sure, the analogy still works.

ASU is like the University of Maine, of the West.

Again, no disrespect for you for going there. It's better than not going to college and jerking off in your mom's basement. But don't sit here and pretend like ASU can hold a candle to Cornell. ASU is where Cornell rejects refuse to go!

in fact if you think about it Penn, Columbia and Cornell offer some of the best hard science, engineering and economics/management programs in the world- all arguably 10x better than Brown and Dartmouth... i dont even know how Brown and Dart manage to stay so high in rankings? I guess Brown has a rich arts scene which is respectable but what about Dartmouth lol?
