Are brotherhoods that close

Depends on the house. Some are close, others are just social clubs, where you get along with some of the guys and the others are a bunch of dbags.

As yea said, I agree. If you mesh well with the house it's pretty much just a chance to meet a bunch of people who you otherwise wouldnt have met. There also tends to be this notion that all kids in frats are like-minded. Couldn't be further from the truth. Greek life has genuinely humbled some kids I knew who were absolute douchebag freshmen and taught them that the things they thought were objectively cool/wack in highschool are all just bs. That being said, of course you'll have an inner friend circle, or multiple friend circles, within the frat. You won't like everyone, and will almost certainly end up hating people. But many of my best friends at school are in my frat. If you dont mesh well with the frat, dont join. You will almost certainly get ripped on and not enjoy your time.
