What can CUPD do that Ithaca PD can’t? We pay for the CUPD. They haven’t used a gun in 40 years. They sometimes investigate stolen computers?

I’m confused. Why are people so pressed

IPD is already underfunded and cant control crime in Ithaca. I’d rather not make things worse and get stabbed.

The point of armed police is to deter people from committing crimes and resisting arrests. Considering Ithaca is already a dangerous town, it's only natural to conclude that crime will increase with reduced law enforcement.
