Can I join a frat if I transfer and was in one

by: Transfer1

Hello all, I am a current sophomore transferring next semester to Cornell. I am in a frat at a big state school that has good greek life. There is no chapter of my frat at Cornell. I am planning to drop it and would like to join a different one at Cornell since mine is not offered. will that be allowed? Will frats at Cornell let me join them?

Also what are the top frats at Cornell that resemble those of a big state school frat?

Yep you can join a new one. I have friends that were in the same boat as you and had no issues. Closest things to state school frats are Sig Chi and DU. Phi Psi was also one, but they merged with DKE and probably will be wack now. In the mid tier, Chi Phi, Chi Psi, and Lambda are state school-esque. In the lower-mid, Fiji and Pike are also fairly rowdy.

To sum it up, here's the state school-esque frats in order of quality.
1. Sig Chi
2. DU
3. Phi Psi (most up in the air)
4. Chi Phi
5. Chi Psi
6. Lambda
7. Fiji
8. Pike

So will even the best frats at Cornell consider taking me even if I was in a different one? I'm just so confused since people at my school have been saying once you transfer frats won't let you in if you were in a different one, but obviously was hoping this wasn't the case. Also, what is rush like? Is it really in spring, and would I be able to do rush if I were starting spring semester?
