Genuine question to frat guys

This isn't a pointed or argumentative question, it's genuine and I'm looking for non-sarcastic, real answers. As a girl, I just don't actually know:
Were you aware before rushing houses that upper tier frats haze heavily during dirty rush events? Like was it talked about or did you attend any event/decide not to go to any event well aware of the likelihood of being seriously hazed?
Or if you did attend a dirty rush event and were hazed, did you expect it?
Again, not doing anything except asking. Just trying to educate myself on frat culture and how much is actually known by freshmen prior to rushing. Don't state a case here or try to call anyone out. I'm literally just asking a simple question.

Personally, I was well aware of the hazing at top and some mid tier frats and decided to rush a lower mid frat in order to avoid it. As a STEM major, I don’t really need to make connections for business or anything, and since I have to spend more time on academics and research than business type majors, it made sense to not make Greek life too much of a commitment.

For any dirty rush event I went to there was no hazing at all. The whole point of dirty rush events are for u to get a feel for the house and hopefully like it enough to rush spring semester. They were usually super fun and often getting pretty drunk so if that wasn't your thing than you probably wouldn't like it, but most people did
