It’s very important for PNMs to know that when they rank their final two houses, just because they get a bid from their 2nd ranked house does NOT mean that their 1st ranked house did not want them. Instead, houses rank PNMs on a spectrum of most to least wanted. If your 1st choice house ranks you significantly lower than your 2nd choice house, you will automatically get your 2nd choice. Just because you don’t receive a bid from your first choice house does NOT mean that they didn’t want to give you one!!!!!

This is true!! On bid day some sorority members get just as shocked (and sometimes upset) that the algorithm produced an unexpected bid list.

Really? I was under the impression that a house would give bids to all people going down their own list in order of preference until they reach max (assuming the pnm ranked the house first or second and their first choice house hadn't offered them a bid). So not getting one could still mean the house would have given you a bid if they hadn't already filled out their new pc, but they just were able to get the number they needed before reaching you

This is absolutely not necessarily true. Also, if you only put down your first choice house and you were actually THAT low on their list, you simply wouldn’t get any bid at all.
