It was the night of the big campus talent show. I was backstage, about to go on for my performance (which, in hindsight, was way too much interpretive dance for someone with zero rhythm). Then it hit me—I’d forgotten the most important part of my outfit: my one statement shoe. I had one boot on. One sock. And a full-blown panic attack. Enter y/n, proud KD, VP of confidence, rocking pearls, a color-coordinated planner, and an emergency sewing kit that could survive a zombie apocalypse. She took one look at me and said, “Girl. Breathe. KD Rule #3: We don’t panic. We pivot.” Before I could ask what that meant, she pulled a pair of backup heels out of her bag. Glittery. Fierce. Possibly enchanted. She adjusted my hair, gave me a pep talk that felt like a TED Talk and a warm hug had a baby, and sent me out onstage like I was Beyoncé at Coachella. Did I win the talent show? No. Did I do a semi-graceful spin and only fall once? Yes. Did I feel like an absolute queen thanks to a KD? Absolutely

I was walking through campus, minding my own business, when a rogue campus golf cart came out of nowhere—driverless, out of control, and headed straight for me. I froze like a sad extra in a low-budget action movie. Then suddenly—heels. Clicking. Fast. Y/n, Alpha Gamma Delta, philanthropy chair, binder-wielding goddess, leapt in front of me. With one smooth move, she yanked her glittery recruitment binder from her tote and slammed it onto the golf cart’s emergency brake. It screeched to a halt. Inches from my toes. She flipped her hair and said, “You good? That thing almost ruined your whole vibe.” I nodded, still processing the fact I was just saved by a woman in wedges. “Alpha Gams don’t let chaos win,” she said, handing me a juice pouch before strutting off into legend.
