IF this is even true, the girl from your hs would only see girls dropping from her own house, not objective comparing to retention rates from other houses. Most girls who drop from any sorority tend to drop over the summer - it’s easier to feel disconnected when you’re away from campus and sorority activities for a few months. My sorority also had drama/rumors like that last summer but our chapter total pre-rush was still completely in line with the average across all sororities.
Maybe even the girl from your hs just happened to have 3-4 friends from her pledge class that dropped or something. A few girls you’re close to dropping FEELS like a lot more that 10 girls that you barely talk to. So unless she has actually statistics showing the number of dgs who dropped compared to the number of girls who dropped from other houses over the number, I really wouldn’t read much into it.
It’s super common to hear false rumors/drama getting blown out of proportion around any sorority during recruitment, which is why it’s so important to base your decisions around things you can see for yourself. Listening to rumors is only going to make your own mindset more negative and potentially cause you to limit your options or get off to a bad start with the house you end up in based on something that might be completely untrue

I don’t know enough about DG to say how
many of them dropped last year but they don’t look like their numbers are low, and this type of rumor is just blatantly unhelpful to PNMs who don’t know any better, no matter what sorority it’s about. I couldn’t even tell you the number of girls who dropped from my own sorority last year and it’s really unlikely that anyone with access to that actual data (typically girls on exec) would be spreading it around to PNMs
Seriously PNMs, PLEASE don’t listen to this sort of gossip about any sorority and really try to stay off this site especially during recruitment.
