Incredible Best Effort
by: Just an observationI am just a casual observer…but, have been so unbelievably impressed by UGA recruitment. I have seen so many women putting in their best efforts. Sorority members are putting forth incredible effort literally around the clock, Gamma Chi’s are sprinting with PNM’s to get them where they need to be and help them navigate the process and the terrain. Finally, PNM’s are putting their best foot forward from dawn til dusk. I just think all of these UGA women need a round of applause for their incredible efforts. From what I have learned, every house has incredible members working hard to build and grow their sisterhood. If I could talk to the PNM’s I would definitely encourage them to consider every single house at UGA and bloom where they are plated. UGA is a special place filled with exceptional people. Go be great with them!

Much of this "effort" you describe is for show. For the majority of houses, 80% of the decisions have been made before the PNMs even move into the dorms. We have slideshows, spreadsheets, and lists of favorite girls long before recruitment starts. We've been instastalking social media for months. This whole "mutual selection" process and values based recruitment is low key a joke. Its really more like a rigged beauty pageant.
So for the PNMs who have sailed through and are destined to pref their top 2 houses, congrats! For the rest of the disappointed and heartbroken PNMs, I feel ya. Rush has gotten more and more toxic at UGA/SEC schools since I got here 4 years ago. I blame rushtok, social media, bama rush culture. So glad I'm almost done!!

Spot on. I feel so bad watching the girls on our lawn all excited, knowing that no matter how well they do during their visit, they are going to be cut. The real decisions are made behind closed doors by a small membership committee that is more concerned about how a PNM will look on our grid, instead of choosing quality girls with substance who will be good sisters.
