Please give input!!

So I rushed and for pref I got one I loved, and one, well, let’s say it’s a bottom 4 house. I told the 1st house I loved them, however didn’t get a bid. I’m embarrassed to tell people which house I got now. I’m embarrassed to post anything about it on Instagram as well. On top of that, some girls in the chapter are so weird. There are some pretty, normal ones, but don’t seem interested in being “bffs”. What should I do? Please help. I’ve wanted to be in a sorority forever and love the idea of it. I’m just embarrassed about the reputation of the one I got.

You can drop before you get initiated and go through again! I think you have to wait until Fall you can’t do spring rush! Don’t feel bad if you don’t want them. Move on and save your $$$

The ones who cut you before will most likely cut you again, but early on the next time.

There is a seperate upperclass (i.e., soph/junior) but from my experience those go to transfers, and girls who could not go through recruitment their first semester.

BTW: How long since bid day? And you have gotten to know 250+ actives plus all the other girls in your pledge class? You don't sound like an entitled brat at all...

This is inaccurate. Houses will not cut her more early on just because she dropped after being in it. I have a couple different friends who had very similar experiences and they had great (better) rushes second time through

Went through a similar situation last year when I got my bid. I’d say wait it out until initiation with the best attitude you can and see how you’re feeling, you can drop before and rush next year. I got lucky and found a great group of friends and honestly ended up loving my house and stayed, I hope you can have a similar experience!!

Okay speaking from personal experience I would stay and get to know some girls and TRULY give it a chance before making any decisions. Get to know the girls and try to make friends!!! However, if you genuinely give it a try and still don’t like it, you can drop before initiation and will be able to rush next fall. My friend did exactly that and after rushing a second time is in a house she absolutely loves. She also got even more houses back then the first time, so don’t listen to the other comment saying that’s not the case. You get to know way more people so rushing as a sophomore is a lot easier. BUT still give it a try because not being in a sorority at all will mean your year looks super different than if you are in one, so weigh your options carefully.

Give it a couple of weeks, you prob won’t have to pay dues for a bit. At this point you’re not able to re rush until next fall so just give it a chance bc it’s gonna be so different not being in Greek life at all. You may find some girls you love you may hate it but at the very least you won’t be left always wondering. I did this exact thing when I rushed and after a few weeks I met my big who connected me with my best friends! No regrets at all for staying and I’m thankful the first impressions didn’t get to me.

Like the others are saying stick it out at least until
Initiation. Also don’t listen to the people on this page about ranks. It’s all a bunch of bs and not accurate at all. Just frat boys or people that don’t go to TAMU trying to cause drama.

If you’re embarrassed at your new house, why waste time, money and effort at all? Cut your losses and try again next year.
