Wanting to drop pref night

There are NO bottom houses... this site is complete crap... go with your gut and give it a try... there are girls in both houses that you will bond with and find your group!! Both very sweet girl type houses!!! I have 3 roommates and 1 is an ADPI and the other is a KD!!! Love both of them dearly!!! Plus ADPI is getting an awesome new house!!!

I am in one of those sororities and I did not want to be there on bid day, but I now can't imagine myself anywhere else. I love it in my sorority. See how this pref round goes for you but I'd suggest just sticking with it for now

Absolutely go KD instead of dropping. You can always drop before your initiate. So go kd and if I’m a few months you hate it then drop.

These kinds of posts make me crazy. Your nm class will likely be 80 girls!!!! If you can’t find a group of girls to be friends with in a group that large, then think carefully about whether you are cut out for Greek life. Go to pref, go to bid day. Make the most of the sorority that offers you membership. It is an absolute privilege to be given a bid. All the houses are WAY more alike than they are different so honestly this “I don’t fit in” bull— is really just “I wanted a house that was top according to GR” and didn’t get it.

Honestly you did very well to get both of these houses for pref!!! I know girls in both and they love it!!! Both very good nationally and at A&M!!! More the sweet, nice girl type!!! good luck!!

i didn’t think either house was for me and i stuck it out and i’m so glad i did. i found my best friends and i hope wherever you end up you do as well. rush is so hard and i hope you find a great home

hold out and see how it goes for awhile. you can always drop before initiation and join another next year

this is what happened to me. i had two houses on pref that i did not have favorable opinions of because of GR. and i felt like one of them really wasn’t for me. one of the houses i really wanted dropped me after sisterhood and i bawled my eyes out the next day. i didn’t understand what i did wrong, or what i could have done differently to get to pref night. i called my parents and they told me i should drop (they’re very uninterested in greek life in general). i ended up sticking it out because i genuinely liked the conversations i had with one of my remaining houses, and thought if worse comes to worse i’ll just drop and move on with my life. despite what other people say on this site, greek life is not the end all be all, and absolutely no one should make you feel bad for dropping. it’s a personal choice and it’s honestly not worth your time and money to be somewhere you are not happy.

that being said, i am so so happy i didn’t drop. i met my best friends for life in my chapter. they make me a better person. i love every day i get to be with them and can’t imagine college without them. it took a while for us to become friends, but now we’re inseparable and i wouldn’t have it any other way. GR is so stupid because people will tell you nasty things about every house. i promise you that every sorority at tamu is worth being in!! i’ve come to find out that things said online are completely untrue (seems like a no-brainer now) and it shouldn’t matter what people think, as long as YOU are happy. this goes both ways. do whatever makes you feel comfortable. things will work themselves out.
