What is the point of Greek life now

by: ...

Now that bid day is online and no mixers/formals are happening, what is the point of joining / paying high dues it's ridiculous. Should I even rush anymore? Has anyone heard back how events are going to be held now?

The point is solely that there will be a vaccine sometime this year and things will get back to normal. You’ll get very little out of pledging a sorority right now tbh. But I am hoping/expecting things will be back to normal (Atleast somewhat) by next year. And if that’s the case, you’ll be so god you rushed this year instead of next because next year is going to be SO competitive. If I was you’d I’d go ahead and rush this year because you’ll have an easier time getting into the sorority you want. And then by next year you’ll be god you did it.

Don’t wait to rush, if enough people wait to rush untill next fall then it will just be SUPER competitive for upperclassmen and you might not get a bid. I say join now in the hopes that everything is back to normal by the spring semester

if it were me i would at least go through the rush process. if at the end you don’t feel like it’s truly the house you see yourself at for 4 years then drop out and wait til next year. but it can’t hurt to try

It’s gonna be a big waste of $2000 in dues to get zero events since I doubt any houses are cutting their fees by too much

I would very much bet that dues decrease to make up for the missed events.

Dues will not be nearly as expensive this semester due to the limitations placed on activities. However, there will still be ways for you to get to know your sisters that are not outwardly organized by the sorority. Rushing next year will be entirely too competitive since all the girls who decided to put it off this fall will be going through recruitment then.
