question

by: Honest

Ok. I just dropped out because my only 2 choices for tonight were ADPi and AOPi. I did not make a connection there and wouldn’t have been happy.

My gpa is a 3.9 so it’s not that. I’m not a deadbeat & had decent conversations. I’m in BlinnTeam. Did that hurt me? I can take it if the answer is yes.

Thanks

We can’t tell you why. We have no idea what happened in the private membership selection conversations at all the houses this week. It sucks but cuts during rush are something that you don’t ever get a “reason” or “answer” for.

I’m sorry that you didn’t feel a “connection” with the 100+ members of either chapter, or any of the PNM’s lined up outside either house yesterday who would become your new pledge sisters. While nobody wants girls crying on their lawns on bid day, the reality is withdrawing just took away your best chance of ever joining a sorority. Some girls re-rush sophomore year with success and if you want that to be you, get a 3.75+++ and get involved on campus, make friends with sorority women in your dorm and classes.

Most of the time it’s just not knowing anyone in the house to pull for you. A lot of girls have a successful sophomore year after they get to know people in the houses that can pull for them. And smaller number of girls you are competing with for houses.

Tbh I would have still gone to pref and true bid day. You’ll find friends in every house there is.

If you arent even going to give it a shot then you deserve what you get. You never know what could have happened. There are fantastic girls in every house.

You are weak for not going to either party, you should have given both houses a chance and atleast gone to bid day, you more than likely lost your last opportunity to be in a sorority and all the chapters here rock

Honestly you should’ve stuck it out.. you won’t feel super connected at first, it takes some time. You meet so many girls and you don’t know how it actually is until you’re in the chapter for a while.

It’s better to be Greek than none at all. I’d strongly consider open recruitment or COB

So I think you should have gone to pref and Bid Day. AOPi is still very new and I think they are only going to get better. ADPi gets stronger every year. Honestly, it’s sometimes better to rush as a sophomore, because then you have already met a lot of girls in different chapters and you might have a clearer picture of what chapters you like and you’re not just going off of a name. But at the same time, if you were going to be “that” girl crying on Bid Day in a sad way or obsessing over not being in a “top” house (whatever the F that means anyway), then I’m glad you left that spot open for a girl that really wants to be a part of a chapter.

You should have not named the two houses. You could have easily said you just didn't connect to the two you had left. Instead, by calling them out you make yourself look shallow and petty. Newsflash...those were the only two houses that WANTED you. You should have at least gone to the parties. Think about that.

Okay, because no one on this website ever calls out other sororities or ranks “top” houses. Got it. Rush is all about who you know, not first impressions or getting to know people. If it was, the chapters would all look totally different. Sorry but that’s the truth.

Being Blinn Team could have hurt you with a few chapters - depending on their by-laws and charter, some houses are not allowed to accept Blinn Team girls bc they aren’t considered fully enrolled at the school
